“I am here, where r u?” Prince’s new song “Cause and Effect” premiered on Minneapolis public radio station 89.3 the current this morning. It should also be up on Prince’s website, lotusflow3r.com, later today.

    Obviously not the best song Mr. Prince has ever done, but it’s cool love the guitar work in this one.

    BRILLIANT SONG!

    Love the sound, style, guitar solos. It is almost a purple mini-rock opera.

    It is a grower though, as was most of ‘Lotusflow3r’ and ‘TRC’. Didn’t stop me from loving those though.

    If this is Prince’s forthcoming direction I’m all for it.

    I like the song. The middle part where it breaks down is beautiful.
    Chorus is good… But I’m not really blown away by this song.

    Some reactions on the internet to this song are way too harsh. I respect and love Prince as a musician and artist and I’m always open to new things.

    I expected a new sound to come from him again, but that’s not the case. In A Large Room With No Loght (Montreux Version) was awesome… The last few albums were really good in their own way, but maybe Prince needs to chill out and take time for something huge. The Rainbow Children was a masterpiece and it remains my favourite Prince album to this day.

    I always love the anticipation of new Prince music, it gets me excited everytime… so keep doing that, but use your website Prince! Try things with us, with the fans. Try some new things… and in the meantime you could also release some old unreleased music. Use your website!

    (We can all listen to Cause and Effect on websites like these and we know how to get our mp3’s and stuff from radio recordings. Use the site for something extra! Experiment!)

    Don’t front if we heard this live we would all be rockin’ to it. Also plus I know with myself it usually takes several listens before not all but some of his gems grows on me.

    Lovin’ this for what it is a definite Rock filler for other things to come.

    A wise man once told me “dont confuse motion with progress.” After listening to this soing, I have coined my own saying “dont confuse what is complex for what is good or interesting.” Prince can play the guitar until it bleeds, make all sorts of complicated arrangements, but what his work lacks now, that it did not lack before is INSPIRATION! It doesnt sound like he’s having as much fun as he used to. this song is paint by numbers and I would not play it again.
