not bad. a lot of it sounds familiar from prior efforts. it would be nice if he goes on tour.

Its a great song – especially towards the end. However, it sounds completely out of time, deep punk-funk over a light ‘rock and roll’ riff. I got to say it did remind me of ‘Play in the Sunshine’ and Princes old ‘rock and roll’ styled songs (one was present recently on Lotusflow3r ‘No more candy’. If this came out in 87 I think it would have hit the roof and smashed it out of the universe, but today it sounds a bit ‘music lite’. Listen with a free mind and enjoy, but may leave some people wanting when listened to in the context of ‘modern music’ – but his genius is present and he is still proving he’s free and not trying to make ‘hits’.

Ooops we watched the T.V. version of the movie Idiocracy! I just rented it and it is quite awefull and inappropriate *sorry*I had no idea.
But no Kristie, even if it wasn’t P it’s very catchy i think if they played all the time on other radio stations u would agree if u heard it more just sayin. But then again I love everything he does and he’s been the only artist I could say that about.

    I love Prince, but…no.

I doubt half of the people that are raving about the song would give it a second listen if it weren’t for it being by Prince. Just sayin’.

    Love him, but…no.

Is there no end to ur idiocracy? There is a hilarious movie by that name u Modernaire should watch it and develop a sense of humor. It was Ladyfingers who said his gifts are God given and I agreed just 2 a more specific God. It was her I was quoting, ur funny and obviously a very angry evolutionist. Why bother? I mean don’t like John Meyer but I don’t sit on a puter and abuse his work what r u gaining seriously? Just bored? lonely? Me 2 sometimes, but I HAVE HOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because I know, Prince reads DF avidly for reaction to a new jam – its his online dance floor:

Cute baby video wins battle against music label

Mon Mar 1, 2010 8:48am ESTLOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – How much should a copyright owner pay for improperly telling a website to remove content?

Stephanie Lenz got into trouble with Universal Music Group in 2007 after she posted a YouTube video of her toddler dancing to the Prince song “Let’s Go Crazy.” The label fired off a letter demanding removal of the clip and YouTube complied.

Lenz then teamed with online free-speech advocates at the Electronic Frontier Foundation to get a judge to declare that her video was a “fair use” of the song. She then sought damages against Universal, the world’s biggest record company, for sending a meritless takedown request.

Universal fought back by raising affirmative defenses that Lenz had bad faith and unclean hands in pursuing damages. Now a California district court judge has rejected those arguments, granting partial summary judgment to Lenz and paving the way for Lenz to collect attorneys fees.

The case is important because it raises the question of whether a media company can be held liable for pursuing a takedown without a full consideration of fair use. The decision by the court last Thursday is very technical and examines damage claims under a statutory code that deals with liability when misrepresentations are made about infringing works online.

A preliminary read on the decision indicates that Lenz can recover legal fees associated with fighting the takedown, but not necessarily fees connected with the cost of pursuing Universal for damages in follow-up litigation. To really sock it to Universal, Lenz would have to make a claim under a code that awards fees at the court’s discretion. To do that, she will likely need to show that Universal knowingly misrepresented its initial claim.

Don’t want to be a hater but don’t wanna tell lies. I’m fairly impartial on this song and thats not what I want when I listen to a new track. It’s just not something to get excited about Prince (although he doesn’t care what the fans think anyway)

This song sounded like an afterthought. Lotus Flower is the best record he has released since The Rainbow Children. I hope this next one is on par or better, minus this song linked above. Thank you.

To Modernaire – why do you care what kind a fan or “fam” somebody is? Mind your own business and do you.

To Jess – you talk about people wanting their favorite artists to sound like they used to. Doesn’t that sound like you just want to stay where they are and not grow in their music? Sounds kinda selfish IMHO.

Prince needs to keep on doing him. Even if I’m not feeling a song, it doesn’t mean that it’s “the end” as many fans keep on moaning about. If it’s that bad, then why don’t you just “retire” from Prince and stay in the past with those CD’s? It’s not the end of the world and no one is going to kill you if you do that. I want Prince to change it up but I accept that he’s going to do what he wants. It’s not my life, it’s his.

People always talks about the past, and the present… we want the 80s stuff, we miss the 90s…. if we like the old records, the only thing we need to do is put them into the stereo, and enjoy.

Today Prince is not yesterday Prince, just like all of us; we are not the same kids we used to be 20 years ago, we don´t like the same things, we don´t eat the same and we DON´T THINK the same. EXACTLY the same thing happens to him.

Now is now, and I think we should focus in what we like to hear, and if we don´t like some of the material he is releasing these days, what is the problem with that? we CAN´T BLAME HIM. Who is a genius at work for more than 30 years?

I have another question. What would be your oppinion if he were releasing the same 80s/90s sound?

Personallly, I would like Prince to slow down a bit and do more simple songs without so many choirs. But that´s the Prince in me, not the real Prince, and I accept it.

Prince, youdancedwithme shoulder by shoulder once in 1998. Thank you for that and for the rest.

And I’m a huge fan of both Prince and MJ and even tho I can hardly fault MJ, I can tell you when critically it’s just not sounding like them to me. Invincible was Michael’s downfall in many ways. People want to hear the style they’re been hearing over decades. I want the old Prince! 90s Prince! 80s Prince! I don’t like the 2000 stuff that much, if not at all.

Disappointed to be honest. What happened to the 3121 genre? that was his best cd of the past 10 years. None of these new songs are even half of what the 90s were. I miss all of his 90s style songs. The beat in this sounds like the beach boys or something at points. And the lyrics bore me.

U are there, where am I? Semi-a-colia? Hey!

I’m with Camille, thank you very much.

@Chocoloatesis65 – God didnt bestow Prince all his gifts and talents, his mother and father and his own self did. Reminds me of when I saw a guy get his eyes fixed by these doctors who did a new eye surgery scientific technological breakthrough procedure. He was a severe miopic, really bad, he gets up and can, without glasses, look the clock on the wall across the eye surgeons room and tell the time, he was shocked and said “thank you Jesus!”.

I of course, spill out my orange juice and think NO! Those DOCTORS just fixed your eyes! My heart would sink if I just did a procedure to save someone’s eyesight only for my years of heavy study, dedication, my skill and TALENT, intelligence simply handed off to Jesus. My god.

And you Chocosis – are a serious FAM. Maybe someone will someday see The Dawn? I think “The Dawn” was something around that Ecrapcipation era or maybe Gold Expereince? Shit, I dont know WHEN exactly “The Dawn” occured, wait, was it in ’98 during the Truth CD release? Dont remind me of that whole Crystal Ball ’98 fiasco. Surely fam, you mu… Eye’m shuR U must NO of that tyme?

Wow people who don’t like rock just don’t get it, and haters just please go away cos he’s always gonna LOVE him some Jehovah!! (you know the God that bestowed all the gifts and talent) No his hands will never be pagan, but yours fingers Lady are in that “low sink of debauchery” and my brother left there a long time ago! I know where he is and its the same place I am:) You could have knocked me over with a feather when he came in, but I’m so blessed now to have all this beautiful music that ALL ages can enjoy. Good clean fun that u and Velo over there just can’t get 2. Maybe one day u will see the Dawn??
I’m so glad he doesn’t let this very negative but very small group bother him and he still keeps keepin on 4 those us that get it. Oh and Virgobrown u should have been @ Paisley that night I’m not flamin u it’s just aint nooooobody funky like he!! This is just another side of him and thats cool if u only like the funk, but to me thats like I only eat pasta… BORING!
People need love the most when they appear to deserve it the least. Look around. Are withholding warmth amd compassion from someone who really needs it?

There isn’t a song out there that I don’t love, Prince Rogers Nelson is the single most brilliant and prolific artist there is. I will be renewing my Lotusflow3r subscription in the vain hope that t may turn out to be as great an experience as the NPGMC, should it not, I will be renewing anyway because Prince is just so amazing and I couldn’t stand to miss a thing.

    Love the track.

Saw the lyrics as more introspective than dogmatically religious. For example, he does not regret his past etc.

Good stuff, but would like more, particularly on the site.

    Where am I?

Knee-deep in funk from the new album you are going to upload on the ‘Lotusflow3r’ site before the subscription has ended.

    GREAT song, BTW.
