03 Mar Hurt Locker Producer BARRED From Oscars
A Hurt Locker producer will not be allowed to attend the Academy Awards this Sunday. His crime? He was sending e-mails out to Academy voters telling them to vote for his movie for Best Picture. That is a big no-no.
The producer is Nicolas Chartier and IF the Hurt Locker does win for Best Picture, he will be able to get his award at a later date.
An executive meeting was called about this situation on Monday to barr him. He sent out the e-mail around Feb. 19th urging people to vote for his movie instead of a movie with a budget of $500 million, an obvious reference to it’s competition for Best Picture, “Avatar” by James Cameron.
My naivete, ignorance of the rules and plain stupidity as a first-time nominee is not an excuse for this behavior and I strongly regret it,” Chartier wrote.
The other producers will be able to attend the movie. The Los Angeles Times broke the story on the e-mail and published it.

Posted at 15:35h, 05 MarchI live in MI and just read an article in our paper that the makers of the Hurt Locker are being sued. Reason is, the man (Jeremy Sarver) who the whole story is based around was never given credit for it in the movie. Someone took his story and made it their own story. Check it out online.
