Prince, we know you read Doc, so maybe you could put some words here, maybe we deserve it, after all, very few posts have this impact, we give you so much feedback, and I think this is very helpful to you. Come on, let us know your true point about your work these days.

Oh yeah, and I agree with a lot of the other posts. You’re still the man, still nr.1 and you still rule, all love seriously! I just had to give my opinion about the music lately (meaning purple and gold, cause and effect and hot summer).

    Dear Prince,

I remember you we’re saying not so long ago, that once in a while you reflect back on your music, on your catalogue. And in 1996 in the Chris Rock interview you said: ‘Willy wants to make new music instead of repeating the old, but Willy also wants to play ‘kiss’ for the fans/friends. Now that’s cool you know, making new music. Love it actually. And of course, you’re live reputation is undeniable, your one of the best performers ever! So for the upcoming event I’m not worried at all, it’s going to be great (Arras)! But now…, the ‘hot summer-song’, whether it’s just a ‘song’ to promote the upcoming events or a serious attempt to include this on the upcoming album, I would like to ask you: WHAT THE F&^%#%^*(K????

Since I became a fan (long time ago) I’ve always tried and mostly succeeded to convince people of your brilliant music. I showed them jazz, pop, soul, rock, and of course funk. So much diversity and so good in quality. Amazing! And Lovesexy 88 live, still can’t believe it, still blows my mind. But prince, I’m scared now to convince myself these days when ‘purple & gold’, ’cause & effect’ and ‘hot summer’ sound out of my speakers.. When you look back at you’re catalogue, how the hell can you create something like this ‘hot summer’ song??? Is it like you’re listening to ‘hot summer’ in your car driving around, then put on “If I was your girlfriend’ or ‘the beautiful ones’ (just to name a few) and think: “YEAH! Allright! Awesome! Different but awesome!”. COME ON!!! (not saying you need to repeat yourself btw but still).

True, it is different, and Willy makes new music all the time, which is great as well. But how can you, in your words; how can you in JEHOVA’s name think that this is great? Now if you create 3 albums at once (like LF, MPLS and Elixer) there are always some great truly great songs (Feel good feel better, amazing especially live @ Jay Leno) among the whole bung of ‘tryout I’m bored but I need some more fillers’-music. Why not re-record ‘grand progression’ and ‘electric intercourse’ with that same passion. But please, stop polishing, stop overproducing, stop Larry-ing! Or at least when you do that, create something like TRC or SOTT. Instead of trying to sound like someone else..

If you don’t wanna sound or sing about sex anymore that explicit, walk around in g-string without a shirt half naked cuz you’re over 50 years, that’s really understandable, logic even. But you might wanna consider to stop making music for 20 year old pop-fans who listen to Lady Gaga crap etc… YOU ARE NOT THE MAINSTRAIM POP ANYMORE. Who cares! You’ve ruled it for at least a decade! Time to move on! ACT like you’re 52, sound like it, whether you look like a 25 year old or not.”

Oh yeah, can’t help it, but whatever crap song you make, there are always some amazing new songs you create and live you’re still unbeatable, So I really can’t help it, although these 3 crap songs in a row: I still got ya back!

Yeah, this is great fun. Can’t stop playing it.

I think a lot of people have missed the point. It ain’t meant to be deep like ‘joy in repetition’ or ‘Anastasia’, this is exactly what it’s meant to be – FUN !!

    Love it

I will always support anything my prince does because whatever he does he does with pure genius ..
No artist can ever be what prince is to the music idusttrial he taught all muscians how to own up to their rights and breack away from the executives in high places. Prince stood up and changed his name and wore slave across his face and fought for all muscians and they all followed and took back their masters thank u prince for giving us back the real geniuses the musicians who write and produce all music.

Not feeling it! I am tired of P taking the Pop music route! There has been no edge lately in his recent output! To me, it’s all been safe, fluffy, Top 40, The Light 106.3 kind of stuff. What happened to that “butterscotch curly hair, wish she had some draws on now” kind of funk?!! I’m looking for the next song that’s gonna A-U-T-O-matically make me go into Funky Face mode! I know he still has it in him! C’mon P! Let’s Do This!!! Quit Playin’!!

I would love to see him revisit old outtakes like “Extraloveable”, “Crucial”, “Crystal Ball”, etc., remaking them today. He should delve into fantasy interpretations of these “classics” w/ a fantastic multimedia show.

I miss when we got a song like “Gett Off” on his birthday. This song sounded so familiar and w/out my music nearby, I believe the music is very similar to “Damned if I do, Damned if I don’t” off of Emancipation. Not feeling any funk from this song and I don’t think that it’ll get much play…from me. Nice to have but he can do this in his sleep.

I’ll say it again, Prince needs an OUTSIDE producer to lend some much needed fresh ears to the mix. If you go old school…Jam & Lewis, Quincy Jones, Maurice White. If you go New School: Timbaland, The Roots, The Neptunes. Prince has been going it alone in the production chair his entire career. It may inject incredible creativity into his songs if he did an entire record with an outside producer at the helm. Plus, it would give him a chance to focus 100% on songwriting, singing and playing guitar.

not his best work but not as bad as Purple and Gold LOL (never been so ashamed of being a Prince fan)
This song could have been funkier thus hotter. But catchy tune…..
    still love him tho :0)

Horror, really mediocre, disapointing, whatever happened to his direction like “Dreamer” or back to the basics of 1988 period. He needs a new blood, and MAceo on horns!! This track will not survive the hot summer, please, please dig out something better from the Vault(s).
