April Fool’s was 18 days ago so the news of PRINCE reaching a new deal with WARNER BROS Records is no joke!!! The news was sent out to via email and PR early this morning.

Yes, PRINCE has struck a deal with Warner Bros records to release remasters starting with a deluxe version of “PURPLE RAIN” just in time for the 30th anniversary of the album and film.

The global deal also includes the Prince albums “Controversy”, “Dirty Mind”, and “1999” along with others in the Warner Bros. Prince catalog.

“A brand-new studio album is on the way and both Warner Bros Records and Eye are quite pleased with the results of the negotiations and look forward to a fruitful working relationship,”-Prince

No more fighting over master recordings. No waiting 35 years from the Copyright Revision Act of 1976.

Prince now has ownership and control over his master recordings.

“Everyone at Warner Bros Records is delighted to be working with Prince once again: he is one of the world’s biggest stars and a truly unique talent. We are also very excited about the release of new and re-mastered music from one of his greatest masterpieces.”-Warner Bros. Records chairman and CEO Cameron Strang

Yes. It’s real.-DocFB

Diagnosis: You can bet we will have more on this through the weekend and on the next Spreecast! PRINCE….congrats my man!!!!

Don’t forget to join us for the PRINCE Spreecast this Wednesday April 23rd! Gonna be a hot one!!!

Prove me wrong, but this is never going to happen. Like every other largely touted project from Prince, the interest by him wanes, then the fans are left hoping for something that will never materialize. Prince is his own worst enemy on things like this. It’s been over a year sine this post of “Yes. It’s real”, and nothing. I’m not calling out Funkenberry – he can only go on the information before him. I call out Prince for once again shitting on his catalog, his past, and his fanbase. No one’s listening to AOA or PE on the regular. No one’s humming “PretzelBodyLogic”. No one’s going to work talking about “Hey, did you hear that new jam by Prince – “Marz”? Pffft. No one’s listening to “When Doves Cry” either, but that’s much more desirable than 12″ of non-stop slop. C’mon Prince – do one thing for your fans. You’re already a greatest hits act in concert with your rehash of “Let’s Go Crazy”. You play almost every song from Purple Rain on concert at some point, yet you make fun of people who love 1984? Don’t be a hypocrite. Let people who remaster do their job. Release the songs, a beautiful 2 disk package, at a good price that’s fair for you, and us, and leave a legacy of joy, not angst. Hell, even the original release of Thriller or Bad sounds 100x better 35 years later than Purple Rain does at this point. Get to gettin’, son!

Everyone is hoping that Prince will release some of his naughty songs from his past…He is not the same person anymore. He is very selective of what he writes and what he remasters. For instance, you’ll probably never see remasters of Sexy MF, Darlin’ Nikki, you know songs like that.

    What I’m hoping for:

Extended Version of Let’s Go Grazy
Extended Version of Computer Blue (the “Corridor Speech” Version)
    Extended Version of God
    Extended Version of Erotic City
Extended Version of I Would Die 4 U
    17 Days
    Our Destiny
    Roadhouse Garden
    Electric Entercourse
    Neon Rendezvous  (Prince Version)
    Let’s Go Crazy Reloaded (3rdEyeGirl)

Purple Rain 1984 Birthday  Rehearsal and Concert DVD
All the Music Videos from Purple Rain, and unseen behind the scenes footage.

That would be AWE-SUM, if it happens! 🙂

A 2cd/1 dvd/bluray remaster of Purple Rain would be remarkable. 1st cd: the album, b – sides and 12″s. The 2nd cd: More 12″mixes, Unreleased, live & demo. The dvd/bluray: The entire Prince and the Revolution Live concert from 1985 as well as all music videos from Purple Rain album release.

Having a month or so to remaster and print a million Purple Rain cd’s with unreleased vault songs should be very interesting. My guess is someone has already remastered all the songs.
My hope is “Erotic City”, “17 Days”, “Electric Intercourse”, Modernaire”, “The Bird”, and “Jungle Love” get added to the final project. Watching and waiting ::))))

Patience is a virtue! He waited 4 the right deal 4 ownership of his masters & didn’t settle & look what happen?! Gold @ the end of the tunnel.! Prince has become a innovative leader of music artist & in return, he will be a very wealthy business man…
Now all Prince needs 2 do 2 take over the world again is decide he wants 2!!!!!!

Live orchestra accompaniment to the remastered print of ‘Purple Rain’ would be a great specialty tour. Prince could conduct and perform.

THIS is the BEST news I’ve heard in the 21st Century. Wonderful beyond words. Prince and Warner Brothers patching things up. I’m glad and KNEW the could do this if they both just spoke real and adult about what each wanted. This NEW relationship will do wonders for Prince because with WB’s strength, power and distribution, promotion and marketing savvy, Prince is going to have a resurgence not seen since his previous WB days. Absolutely stunning and fantastic. Proud of you, Prince. Beyond words. Complete love and respect.

RobLives4Love  THIS is different because there are OFFICIAL statements from BOTH Prince AND Warner Brothers CEO. They know better to put themselves out there in such a crucial moment in time. I’m telling you right now, THIS remastering and NEW relationship with Warners is VERY REAL and will make 2014 and beyond a new breath of life in the Prince catalog AND his career!!!

This is good news. It still makes me a little upset (not much) that we have to wait yet more for Plectrum Electrum which someone else reported would be released through WB

Prince’s business savvy, and a seemingly renewed willingness to collaborate with others, has smoothed barriers to a more open marketplace; that is great for lovers of great music and art. The Prince Entertainment Network(Prince Multiverse; Prince Macrocosm, perhaps) could do very well!
