The photo of the moment is of DrFunkenberry and Lenny Kravitz from the "What Do You Worship" event last week in L.A.
Lenny is in full swing promoting the "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" movie but we had time to talk about the music industry and with veteran acts struggling album sales due to iTunes and social media and Steve Jobs place in all that.
Lenny is excited about upcoming music which should be set for release sometime in 2014.-DocFB
Diagnosis: I can't say much at this time but you know we are always rooting for LK.
We had Luke James and Elisa from the NPG on the PRINCE spreecast this week and it was a great show!
Luke talked about playing with Prince at the City Winery and also touring with Beyonce and about a new movie he is in coming soon with Forest Whitaker! He also sang some songs and forgot his shirt...and it seems people did not seem to mind!
Elisa was a sweetheart as always as we discussed the Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival show from last weekend. Elisa also sang a few notes for us from "Love Machine" and "Daddy Pop" and Doc took it way back to talk about her appearance on Arsenio Hall.
Bobby Z. will be a special guest on the PRINCE Spreecast hosted by DrFunkenberry & Seth Everett!
Bobby Z. played with "Purple Rain" PRINCE and 3rdEyeGirl this weekend at both shows at The Myth this weekend. Although Bobby played briefly with PRINCE back in 2000 at an event called "PRINCE: A Celebration" at his Paisley Park studios, he hasn't played "Purple Rain" with him since about 1986-87.
You can watch the show above or click on the link HERE!
It will be a fun show and we are working on another surprise for U all during the show!-DocFB

Heidi Skinner; thank you for creating the logos that made DrFunkenberry recognizable even though the name was hard to work with. You were never given your due and that lies at my feet. I am very grateful for everything you have ever done and for others looking for design help or someone to create a kick-ass logo, I cannot recommend Heidi any higher.

Diagnosis: 2013 20-13=7? Hmmm
Drfunkenberry was on set for the upcoming season finale of VH1's "Hollywood Exes" and we had time to catch up with Mayte Garcia and talk up Jessica Canseco.
Mayte seemed very happy and the cast seemed to get along great with a few glasses of champagne thrown in for good measure.
I asked Mayte about a season two if VH1 has picked it up and she told me she doesn't know yet but is pretty sure.
We are told if they get a certain number of viewers tonight against the Olympics, they will get an automatic season 2!!!! So make sure tonight to watch "Hollywood Exes" and record the Olympics. I mean they are on tape delay any way right?
We needed to talk to Mayte privately about a certain someone's clothes(WHY???) and a few other things and we will have that conversation for you shortly.
"Hollywood Exes is on VH1 Wednesdays, so there is a NEW episode tonight!
We may even ask some of you some questions for her. Will let you know what happens. Cool?-DocFB
It's around 6:30 in the morning right now. I left the recording studio in Los Angeles with Andy Allo and some funky people a short time ago. I was able to hear some "Superconductor" tracks for the first time and full versions of songs. Long story, short, I was digging them.
I will go into further depth into the tracks and the things that transpired there but the Dr. has an appointment with the sandman right now.
From what I remember, there was some table tennis playing, somewhat one-sided mind you, some grooving in the studio, and getting deep into music, from the personal side to the business side.
It was a cool night and I will get deeper later but wanted to share what I could before I get a little rest. One problem though; those grooves on "Superconductor" may be playing in my head while it is laying on my pillow.
Might need to play some Sade to put me to sleep or something.-DocFB
Good mernin' good mernin'! Drfunkenberry just did a radio interview with Big Al from Sacramento V101.1 where we talked about a guest they had in town. Yes, the one and only PRINCE was/still is in town. Only he and his travel agent know for sure.
We talked about Andy Allo's "Superconductor" CD due for release later this year and a few other purple things. Andy sent out a tweet last night talking about being in the studio and watching the NBA Finals. Hmm. We have a feeling who wanted that on.
Here is the interview;
Here is Andy Allo's "People Pleaser"
And...for those that missed it, here is the 19 minute "Days Of Wild & Loose" jam
Hope you guys dig the interview. Thanks to Big Al for the Love. Might have to do another one very soon.-DocFB
