The estate of Michael Jackson has inked a deal with Sony for $250 million dollars. It is a distribution deal for new unreleased product and some of the stuff you already own from Michael Jackson.
Sony will release 10 albums of Michael's over the next 7 years, so maybe about 4 cd's of unreleased material and then 6 others with a new song here or there.
The deal for Sony makes sense even though it seems like a lot of money. Since Michael's passing in June last year, Sony has sold over 31 million MJ records world-wide and with the release of "This Is It" as well, the estate will have made over $250 million in 1 year alone since his death.
Sony also is paying for Michael's likeness to be used in video games and movies and other products.
Michael signed a contract with Sony back in the 80's giving him control of his masters. Sony had the rights to use his songs til 2015. Under the new deal, they now have until 2017.
The 10 cd's actually cover the "This Is It" soundtrack so, actually, you are getting 9 more MJ cd's, a few special editions of "Bad", "Thriller" and others. Also, a complete DVD of all of Michael's videos will be released sometime down the road.
Michael Jackson fans, what do you think of this deal?-Dr.FB
Here is a new just released clip from "Alice In Wonderland" and it seems that if you live in the UK, this might be your only way of seeing the movie as Disney and movie complexes could not make an agreement on carrying the movie over DVD rights.
What do you think of the clip?-Dr.FB
This Is It, the Michael Jackson documentary of his final tour rehearsals was released on DVD today.
Do you plan on picking it up?-Dr.FB
Better late than never. George Michael told G last year that he would be releasing a live DVD before Christmas. Well, it did not get released in time for last christmas ( you know, when you gave him your heart) but this year the DVD will be available to give to someone special.
George Michael Live in London DVD is set to be released Dec. 7, according to remembertheeighties.com and we can't wait.
When George isn't smoking cannibas or hooking up with random men late night in London, he is a great live performer.
If this DVD does come out this time, I am going to be one happy funky doctor.-Dr.FB
I never in a million years thought I would have to write a title like that.
As we told you last week, Michael Jackson will be buried at Forest Lawn. This weekend, he was finally laid to rest there.
While the Estate Court Room was turned into a circus yesterday by two women claiming they were Michael Jackson's real baby momma's, with, yes, a real life Billie Jean claiming the kid is hers, some stuff was taken care of. AEG and Sony's deal to make a movie of the MJ rehearsal footage is going through and will be released Halloween weekend with the DVD to follow shortly. Jermaine can now make money off his brother's passing as his version of "Smile" will be hitting I-tunes this week. Jermaine performed it at Michael's funeral.
The madness continues but thankfully, Michael Jackson has been buried. The word is out if he will finally be able to rest in peace however.-Dr.FB
Aubrey O'Day looked pretty stunning at the premiere of her own DVD, "American High School."
I have really nothing to add to this as the movie debuted...on DVD. Kind of like Lindsay Lohan's last movie and what should have been her last 4.-Dr.FB
