Maximum Hedrum, the new project from producer, composer, director, and DJ Sam Spiegel today unveiled a remix of the group's first single "Keep In Touch". Remixed by N.A.S.A., the "Keep In Touch (N.A.S.A. Art of Boogie Remix)" and is available now!
Maximum Hedrum's unique electronic-funk hybrid features Sam Spiegel, the vocals of Derrick Green from the seminal heavy metal band Sepultura, and renowned German musician and producer Harold Faltermeyer, and examines the way our lives are changing through advancements in technology and the Internet. The group's self-titled debut is due out on March 5th 2013 via Spectrophonic Sound.
Sam Spiegel and his N.A.S.A. project have also partnered with Karmaloop for a footwear collaboration with skate brand Lakai to create The Glow in the Dark N.A.S.A. Telford Shoe. Limited to just 50 pairs worldwide and available exclusive at Karmaloop.Com, The Glow in the Dark Telford is a take on one of Lakai's most popular silhouettes and features lightweight, performance-engineered XLK sole construction, a sticky gum rubber outsole to enhance deck group, shock-absorbing polyurethane midsole for impact reduction, and of course, a new glow-in-the-dark suede upper that's sure to keep cabbies, bus drivers, pedestrians and just about everyone else out of the way during those nightly sessions. The limited edition shoes will be available tomorrow.
Maximum Hedrum will kick off 2013 with a live residency at Los Globos in Los Angeles, performing on January 14th, 21st, and 28th. The band will also appear at Austin's South By Southwest in March. Stay tuned for additional live date to be announced as well as an array of music videos, special mixtapes, additional remixes, and more.
Diagnosis: George is much better here than he was with Kid Rock on the Detroit Thanksgiving game....
George Clinton brought the mothership to The Daily Show With Jon Stewart. It all started with talking about another Clinton, Bill.
They talked about how Hillary and Bill would fly to people's rescue. Jon then asked how John Olliver was going to get out of Beijng and Oliver said he is leaving the best Clinton way, on the mother ship.
Lo and behold, Dr. Funkenstein himself, George Clinton appeared. No more colorful hair but a very sharp suit.
If you thought politics were scary, do not pay attention to Oliver and Stewart trying to get down to "We Want The Funk" and we will try to give Oliver props for at least clapping on the 2 n 4.-DocFB

DrFunkenberry was lucky enough to get some time with funk/R&B artist Malina Moye. If you like ol' skool funk, we recommend checking out Malina's new album "Diamonds and Guitars" - it's full of great guitar riffs, funky grooves and strong ballads. Listen to a couple of tracks below.
Malina grew up in a family of musicians. Mom and Dad played for the band The Techniques and she considers George Clinton, Whitney Houston and other funk legends her cousins. You can see and hear their influences in her music, from her "upside-down" guitar playing ala Jimi Hendrix, to the waa-waa riffs of Prince and funky grooves of Parliament Funkadelic.
In the interview, Malina talked to us about growing up funky, meeting legends like Prince and Michael Jackson, belting out the national anthem before thousands, her Dad's crush on Sheila E., and what she has in store for this year. You can download Malina's "Diamonds and Guitars" from Amazon or iTunes. Enjoy - Dr.FB
