My Take On The American Music Awards

The American Music Awards was the best AMA’s in about 10 years. A majority of the stars were on hand except for Beyonce and Taylor Swift.  A couple years ago, almost every award winner was not there. Another year, the biggest act performing was the return of Motley Crue.

Lady Gaga did not disappoint but left the show empty-handed.  Will the Grammys get it right?  Kelly Clarkson belted out a tune. Carrie Underwood proclaimed her love for her “Cowboy Casanova” with a bevy of back-up dancers.  Janet Jackson went through a medley of her hits surrounded by her new song “Make Me” and an outfit that did not complement her, but did not provide a Super Bowl moment.

A few random notes:

-Was Taylor Swift really in London via satellite or was it to make sure she would not be interrupted by Kanye? (I kid. I kid.)

-Why is no one talking about Green Day’s solid performance?

-How hot was Sofia Vergara?

-Adam Lambert.  Wow or Ouch?

-Did you notice there was no host?

-Good job by American Music Award producers for editing Jennifer Lopez’s performance of a forgettable song by taking out her fall during her performance.  By doing that, you brought attention to it, and provided a moment for us bloggers.

I had a problem with Michael Jackson being nominated for so many awards and winning.  It was based on his older CD’s selling after his death.  It just wasn’t fair for other artists to compete with that.  Thankfully, it is no longer whoever sells more wins, because the only artist to sell more than MJ this year was Taylor Swift.

At the same time, by not doing a tribute, it cut down on Jermaine’s speech.

What did you all think of the American Music Award show?-Dr.FB

PS I will be adding more to this later as time permits.

Review & Photos Of Green Day In NY 07/27/09

Review provided by our friend at According2g.com

The Green Day show at Madison Square Garden tonight was off the chain!  The Kaiser Chiefs got the crowd ready to rock and Green Day finished us off.

There was hilarious banter in between each song, and lead singer Billy Joe Armstrong let audience members have their 15 seconds of fame by letting them sing on stage and even play guitar on selected songs.  The highlight of the night was a rousing rendition of “Shout” (Otis Day and the Nights, anyone?) that had bits of “Earth Angel,” “I’ll Be There” and “If They Could See Me Now.”

They also did all the hits and more:  Longview, When I Come Around, Jesus Of Suburbia, Hitchin A Ride, Boulevard of Broken Dreams and American Idiot.

Eminem’s Free Show; Relapse 2 Update

Eminem rcoked the 1,500 sound board theatre in Detroit yesterday while his new cd “Relapse” came out as well.

Em did an 8 song set for free with a mass amount of the tickets given out with hints and locations thru his twitter account.  I guess you could call it the Twicket giveaway.  From tickets found in shoes close to 8 Mile or meeting Paul at the Waffle House.  (Die hard Eminem fans will know who Paul is.) It was an interesting giveaway ala Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist” but instead of looking where they would perform, you had to find where tickets would be.

Also, an update on the release date of “Relapse 2″ for those that missed it.  I spoke with someone from Interscope Records yesterday and they advised that Eminem’s “Relapse 2″ will be released in the 4th quarter, which would mean a November or December release date.

Will Eminem knock Green Day from the number 1 spot next week?  No need to go thru brain damage, we will know soon enough. Don’t forget Eminem will be on Jimmy Kimmel this Friday.-Dr.FB

Meet Green Day & Attend A FREE Live Show!

This news is not even on their official site and there is a pretty good chance you are hearing about it her first.

The Hot Pocket Topic at Hollywood & Highland has your chance to meet Green Day.  All you have to do is buy the CD and a special t-shirt for $30 bux and you can meet the band, while supplies last.  (Although after us just posting this, it might go faster than before.)

Also, we are about to blow the cover off of this; Green Day will be doing a secret (well, not anymore) concert at The Henry Ford Theatre on June 4th.  Tickets will be given away on KROQ and go on sale tomorrow thru ticketmaster

If that’s not all, Green Day will be performing 5 nights in a row on the Carson Daly show late night.  We were scratching our heads about it as well but hear that Carson is a close friend to the band.  It would make more sense to do Jimmy Kimmel but hey, it’s not like they are hurting for exposure.

Good luck getting to meet the band and getting into the no longersecret show.  Us?  We will be there just for you.-Dr.FB
