In case you didn't hear, Jennifer Hudson is joining the cast of the NBC show "Smash" where she joins former American Idol contestant Katharine McPhee on the show.
A preview of J. Hud performing an original song "I Can't Let Go" has just been released and the shows the pipes that she has big time.
The show returns for it's second season on Tuesday Feb. 5th, with Hudson debuting as a cast member.

Smash Season 2 will see Jennifer Hudson join the cast alongside Katharine McPhee. We almost forgot that BOTH were former contestants on American Idol. You know, when Idol actually made it about talent instead of the hosts?
J.Hud will be playing a 2 time Tony Award Winner on the show. The Oscar winner shows off her singing chops in the sneak peak which you can watch above.
We haven't seen season 1 although our friend Joe is a huge Katharine McPhee fan. We just might have to watch season 2.

Night 2 of PRINCE's "Welcome 2 Chicago" tour featured such classics such as "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man", "Shhh", and "She's Always In My Hair" and then powerful version of "Nothing Compares 2 U" with Chicago's own Jennifer Hudson.
His afterjam was nothing short of spectacular at the House of Blues kicking off a high energy set with "Days of Wild" and "Dance Electric" and also featured Hannah Ford, the special guest drummer for the NPG, along with John Blackwell.

PRINCE Offers FREE Tickets To Concert For Those Who Attended Monday’s House Of Blues Show!
Following what happened Monday night at the House of Blues Official Purple Afterjam with the police shutting down the event for curfew, Prince along with HOB and the United Center are offering every person who attended the House of Blues show on Monday a FREE ticket to his concert Wednesday night at the United Center.
As was posted earlier, Prince was going to do everything he could do to rectify what happened on Monday. So on that note, everyone who was at the House of Blues show Monday is now going to be able to go to the United Center Show Wednesday.
Emails for ticket-holders should have already started going out. Just bring your I.D. along with your House of Blues ticket for Monday's show and they will give you a non-transferable ticket to the show starting at 5 p.m., when gates open.
We have heard from those in attendance at Tuesday's United Center show that the sound was much better. He also did a killer performance of "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man" and also for good measure "Shhh", "She's Always In My Hair" and a duet of "Nothing Compares 2 U" with Chicago native Jennifer Hudson.
Also, the Mayor just cleared PRINCE to play as long as he wants at the House of Blues shows!!!-DocFB

Jennifer Hudson Breaks Down At Grammy Whitney Tribute Rehearsal
Jennifer Hudson rehearsed a tribute to Whitney Houston for the Grammys tonight and we are told by people on scene that she broke down at the end of her performance.
Jennifer will be performing a 2-3 minute version of "I Will Always Love You" at the show tonight. Contrary to our report from earlier, Chaka Khan will not be part of the tribute.
We are looking forward to Jennifer's performance tonight and tribute to Whitney. We hope she can power through her emotions of losing a friend and the pain of still losing her own family in recent memory.-DocFB

Chaka Khan & Jennifer Hudson To Perform Whitney Tribute At Grammy’s
Chaka Khan and Jennifer Hudson will perform a tribute to Whitney Houston at the Grammys this Sunday. Whitney Houston was found dead late Saturday afternoon.
The L.A. Times is only confirming Jennifer Hudson but we can confirm that Chaka Khan has been added as well.
The CEO of the Recording Academy Neil Portnow released this statement on the passing of Whitney Houston;
"Six-time Grammy winner Whitney Houston was one of the world's greatest pop singers of all time who leaves behind a robust musical soundtrack spanning the past three decades,"
"Her powerful voice graced many memorable and award-winning songs."
"A light has been dimmed in our music community today, and we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, fans and all who have been touched by her beautiful voice."
Clive Davis's Annual Pre-Grammy party was rumored to have been cancelled but it has not. Whitney was rumored to be opening the party for her mentor. Clive Davis attended the party and had a moment of silence for Whitney.
We are looking forward to the Chaka & J. Hud tribute to Whitney.
