NBC: Conan Is Out, But His Ideas Are Still In

Posted in Celebrity News, Television on January 27th, 2010 by drfunkencherry

Conan O'Brien

Well, Conan O’Brien may have been given his walking papers from NBC’s Tonight Show, but that doesn’t mean they’ve soured on his ideas for other shows.

NBC has just greenlit “Justice”, the first show in a series produced by Conan’s NBC-based production company. Part of Conan’s deal with NBC allowed Conaco, his production company, to continue operation until the end of the development season.

“Justice” doesn’t sound like a comedy either, but it’s hard to tell. The pilot tells the story of a Supreme Court justice who quits his lifetime appointment to open his own law practice. Hilarity ensues!

Everyone is still speculating about where we’ll next see Conan on TV. What do you guys think? Where would you like to see Coco next? -Dr.FB

Conan O’Brien Gets $45 Million To Leave NBC

Posted in Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity News, Entertainment, Television on January 21st, 2010 by drfunkenberry

Conan O'Brein File Photo

It’s official!  Conan is out as “The Tonight Show” host. But he is not leaving empty handed.

Conan will get 33.5 million dollars and 12 million will go to his employees, the ones who had to move from New York to Los Angeles to do the show.

His executive producer gets a little under 5 million for himself.

Intellectual properties, such as Triumph, The insult dog and the masturbating bear, will not go with Conan as NBC is claiming it is owned by them.

Also, Conan cannot return to the air until September of this year.

Conan will get the 33.5 Million with no strings attached.  It was reported that if Conan was signed by another network, that would not have to pay him the full amount.  That is quite simply, not true.

A formal announcement will be made later today. Conan’s last night as Tonight Show host will be tomorrow night.

What do you think of Conan’s buyout?-Dr.FB

Conan O’Brien put himself on Craigslist stating he is a 6′4, completely ripped and the drapes match the carpet.

He said if you want him after midnight, it will cost you. Ha!

Conan O’Brien also commented on the Team Coco rallies going around in Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, and New York.

On the footage above, they made sure that the last sign you say was “Conan Is A FOX.” Hmm. A little play on words?

Conan still went after NBC a little bit. Check it out above.

Jay Leno Weighs In On Conan & The Tonight Show

Posted in Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity News, Entertainment, Television on January 18th, 2010 by drfunkenberry

Jay Leno took to his monologue of today’s “The Jay Leno” show to address a few things.  The talk show host did not make any wisecracks about Conan but addressed the situation.

According to TMZ, Jay addressed how in 2004 NBC approached him about having Conan take over The Tonight Show  in 2009 because Conan was going to bolt to ABC or Fox, as he was getting contract offers.  Jay tried to argue, saying he was number 1 in the ratings.  NBC told say flat out: you won’t be able to maintain number 1.

Jay agreed to it then and out of that hatched “The Jay Leno Show” where NBC thought he would thrive in the summer, but never even made it to summer.

Jay thought that Conan would not mind moving a half-hour later to make room for Jay and the reason he thought that was that NBC thought that.  Their report said that Jay said not to blame Conan and called him a really nice guy and a gentleman.

Straight up: NBC knew Conan would not be happy moving a half-hour back so NBC is lying and Jay may be lying as well.

We will have his monologue up later tonight.  What do you think of what Jay said about the situation?-Dr.FB

Video: Leno’s Announcement In 2004

Posted in Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity News, Entertainment, Television on January 18th, 2010 by drfunkenberry

Here is Jay Leno’s announcement of him leaving “The Tonight Show” in 2004 and saying how NBC did not want to lose Conan O’Brien. It is easy to say that I will give it up in 5 years….when it is 5 years away.

Conan was red hot in 2003-2004 but tapered off in 2006 and started losing on the regular to Craig Ferguson at the 12:30 time slot in 2008 til Conan left in early 2009.

So what do you think? Should Jay stand by what he said 5 years ago or is the past the past?

Leno Signs Deal With NBC For 11:30 Time Slot. Conan Appears Out

Posted in Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity News, Entertainment, Television on January 14th, 2010 by drfunkenberry

Jay Leno has just signed a multi-year deal with NBC for the 11:30 time slot of the Tonight Show. Jay had a prime time deal with NBC so his contract had to be re-worked.

Rumor has it Conan is going to announce on tonight’s Tonight Show that he will be leaving the show January 22nd.

Where will he go? Fox can sign him but how long will it be til they have a studio for him?

Conan really is the red-headed stepchild at NBC.

What do you think of this news?-Dr.FB

Source: Conan To End Tonight Show Run Next Week?

Posted in Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity News, Entertainment, Television on January 14th, 2010 by drfunkenberry

Conan & Jay. Will Both Stay? File Photo

“Conan does not currently plan on doing any more new shows after next week,”

This comment was just sent out by Conan’s people to the media.

NBC will not comment but it looks like Conan will be leaving 2 weeks before they wanted him to.

Make no mistake: NBC was trying to force Conan out to put Jay’s Tonight Show, which was number 1 for 15 years, back at 1135 and if Conan didn’t like it he could see the door.

Conan is taking the door and giving NBC two fingers. You can guess which ones.

No word yet if Conan will go to Fox or take the next 4 years off paid by NBC.-Dr.FB
