The Dodgers, Angels, Yankees, all swept their 1st round opponents in the playoffs while the Phillies took a 2-1 lead over the Colorado Rockies.
The Denver Broncos defeated the New England Patriots in an overtime thriller by 2 top teams. The Dallas Cowboys beat the Kansas City Chiefs in an overtime thriller as well, where Miles Austin in his first start racked up 250 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns. The Cowboys game should have never went to overtime. They are 3-2 with those 3 wins going against teams who are sub-par as well.
In honor of the Cowboys win, where they should have done what the New York Giants, and The Vikings did. Here is the full video calling out the Cowboys and Tony Romo.
Former New York Giants wide reciever Plaxico Buress was sentenced to a 2 year jail term on Tuesday. he was sentenced for carrying a fire arm that wasn't registered into a nightclub, where he shot himself in the leg.
Let me state that again. Plaxico, late last year, went to a nightclub in New York, with a gun, which he had in his sweats, the gun went off and he shot himself in the leg. He did not shoot anyone else. It was not reported to police but they found out. He shot himself...and got 2 years jail time. Wow.
Let's see...Michael Vick kills dogs....gets 2 years and then is allowed back into the NFL. Dont'e Stallworth runs someone over and kills him, makes a settlement with the family for manslaughter charges, gets a few days jail time and a 1 year suspension from the NFL. Is something wrong here?
Straight up, he was stupid for bringing the gun to the club. But think about this, one bad night, we all have them, maybe not with a loaded gun in our sweats, but one bad night and the guy gets 2 years in jail and his career is pretty much over. That is some messed up crap.
What do you think? Did the punishment fit the crime?-Dr.FB
The 2009 Emmy Awards were last night and hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, who I am sure did a great job. Much better than not having a host like in Emmys past or having multiple hosts.
Will the ratings be higher or will have most Americans have been watching the Giants beat the Cowboys on NBC instead like I did? The Emmys were moved away from the Cowboy game, 1 week ahead but Viacom, who owns MTV and CBS did not want the MTV Awards and the Emmys on the same date, so it was moved back.
So, did you watch the Emmys last night? Even if you did or not, here is the full list of winners.-Dr.FB
OK, so here we are week 2 of the season and time for me to make more predictions or what not...just for fun.
Let's see if anything I said last week is true yet;
I said Tom Brady would be Tom Brady and he has. I said Donavon McNabb would get hurt sometime this season and Vick would start. Mcnabb is not playing tomorrow because he is hurt. Michael Vick, however, cannot play until week 3. I picked San Francisco to upset the NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals and they did. So far, you can call me butter because I am on a roll.
Now, let's get to some questions? Are the Panthers that bad? Are the Eagles that good? We will find out with Carolina this week but since the Eagles do not have Donavon, we won't know.
The game of the week is Cowboys/Giants. It would have been Saints/Eagles if not for McNabb. Tony Romo and the Cowboys open the new Texas Stadium with over a 100,000 fans and the site of the 2011 Super Bowl.
Upsets of the week: Jags over Cards, Rams over Washington, and Baltimore over San Diego. (I really wanted to choose Miami over Indy tomorrow but since it is a Monday Night Game, I chose the Ravens.)
If the Jets didn't talk so much smack, I woulda picked them to upset the Patriots. But talking smack about Tom Brady and the Patriots before a game is like breaking wind on a first date in the presence of your date; You. Just. Don't. Do. It.
Again, this is all in fun and if you have anything you want to add regarding football and the games, please go ahead and do.
Bon Jovi still has not been announced as performers of this years halftime show. Let's make it happen! Have a great Sunday and Go Cowboys!-Dr.FB
Jessica Simpson was seen leaving the gym yesterday, getting her work-out on maybe some anger and sadness over the past two weeks of events since Tony Romo left her.
We hear that Tony was feeling pressured by Jessica to get married. They broke up last year when her father was pressuring Romo for marriage and Jess was able to have daddy leave him alone. A year later, it was Jess putting the pressure on the Dallas Cowboys quarterback.
Straight up; I love Jessica. I love Tony. Tony is the quarterback of my favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. Jessica was the girl I would run into with Nick at the local supermarket. She is short. She is cute. She has a great smile. I can't hate on either.
Yes, there is the so-called Jessica curse that even David Letterman believes is true as perhaps Tony plays harder when she is there. My words to advice for Jess is concentrate on you and your career. You have talent but it needs to be shaped by you, not your father. Forget the country game and get back to pop baby. If you just need someone to hang at the local chili's, you know how to get a hold of me.
Tony. Training camp is about a week away so you will be thinking about work (and getting me 2 tickets to the Cowboys-Giants game in September. You have been doing the right thing not bringing it up publicly. Skipping the Espys and other things. Even though people are painting you as the bad guy, I still think you did a classy thing, even if it was a day before her birthday when you broke up with her.
You guys loved each other and most likely still do. But do what you need to. This ends today's episode of "One Funkenberry To Live".-Dr.FB
Yesterday, the Emmy's got their man. Neil Patrick Harris will host this years Emmy's.
The show will air on September 20th against the Dallas Cowboys New York Giants game. HavingNPH host the show should bringin a few more million viewers but in the end, the Cowboy game will get higher ratings. At least with Neil as host, CBS will have me DVR-ing the show.-Dr.FB
The Emmy's, after announcing they were moving the award show to September 13th to not compete with football, have now moved it back to September 20th.
The reason? The MTV Video Music Awards, which sucked butterballs last year. Both networks are owned by Viacom and you just can't have both compete.
Now, by moving the award show back to September 20th, it will be put against NBC;s Sunday Night Football which will have Tony Romo & The Dallas Cowboys versus Eli Manning & The New York Giants, basically, a ratings bonanza and an Emmy killer.
The Cowboys each time they had a game on Sunday Night Football last year, would win the ratings for the week and were also NBC's highest rated games of the year. Add in it is the Cowboys home opener at their new stadium and the ESPN coverage that will follow, CBS is majorly F'd!
The last time the Giants played the Cowboys in a home opener, the ratings were in the 30 million range. (I was there.) We are talking American Idol numbers. Not to mention the Emmy's are still on tape delay in the West Coast so while watching the game, you can find out the winners online.
Side note: The Cowboys have NEVER lost a game I attended. Unfortunately, unless Tony hooks me up..cough cough..scuse me, I will not be at that game.
Face it; until the Emmy's move to a nation-wide live telecast, something else will catch the viewers eyes, no matter who the host is.-Dr.FB
