The NPG’s Shelby J’s Radio Takeover 3!
Shelby J. took over North Carolina radio again for "The Shelby J. Takeover Round 3" from the campus of N.C. A &T State University.
Shelby mixed some Steely Dan along with Toby Mac, D'Angelo, The Eagles, Cameo, and the new joint by Janelle Monae and Erykah Badu.
Shelby also interviewed Sidra Smith, producer of the new documentary "Free Angela & All Political Prisoners".
Shelby is a natural on radio and TV and we will not be surprised if she gets contacted to do more takeovers and perhaps her own show!

We are so proud of our girl Shelby J.!!! Not only did she drop her latest song "North Carolina" with Anthony Hamilton yesterday, she performed the "Star Spangled Banner" before The Charlotte Bobcats played the Los Angeles Clippers last night!
We heard that Shelby's performance of the song was the best the Bobcats had all year.

Shelby J. To Sing At NBA Game; Star In Documentary
Singing at sporting events is nothing for Shelby J., who rocked the highest rated Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2007. On 12-12-12, not only will she be dropping her latest single "North Carolina" featuring Anthony Hamilton, she will be singing the national anthem for the Charlotte Bobcats when they take on the Los Angeles Clippers.
If that is not enough, Charlotte is showing Shelby J. a lot of LOVE as she will be in a documentary highlighting singers and songwriters in and from North Carolina.
The documentary is called "Queen City Forward" and will be held at Packard Place which is located at 222 Church St., Charlotte NC 28202.
We will do what we can to obtain footage of Shelby singing the national anthem and get photos from the event.

The track was debuted yesterday on WNAA 90.1 FM in Charlotte yesterday where Shelby hosted a 2 hour radio special where she interviewed Andy Allo and played some of her favorite jams.

Shelby J. Set To Premiere “North Carolina” Duet With Anthony Hamilton; Produced By PRINCE
"North Carolina" a duet between Shelby J. and Anthony Hamilton, produced by PRINCE is set to premiere this Thursday, December 6th on WNAA 90.1 from 12-2pm (Eastern Time.)
Shelby will also be interviewing fellow NPG band member Andy Allo as well and will be taking requests as well.

The NPG’s Shelby J. Talks “We’re All In This 2Gether & Upcoming Solo Album
A few months ago, after the Trayvon Martin incident, we asked readers of Drfunkenberry.com to send in photos of them in hoodies and we would use it for a future project. That project is a special cover of the Lalah Hathaway "We're All In This Together" song featuring Shelby J., Anthony Hamilton, Take 6 & Crazy Ned.
We caught up with Shelby J recently and talked about Trayvon;
"We must continue to fight for the Justice we need in this World for all of God's children. Trayvon will not be 4gotten or the 100's of other "Trayvon's" that don't get justice."
Also, Shelby told us that the world should get ready for her first upcoming solo album entitled "Just Shelby" and it WILL be released this year.
Shelby's team is currently weighing her many options for who will have the honor of distributing this cd full of as Shelby says "songs with purpose, sayin' somethin', ya dig. Not just rhyming words with no message!"
Shelby believes in true substance over flash in the pan style or "a look" that's here 2day...4gotten about next week! Like Adele said, "She makes music 4 the ears not the eyes". But Ms. Shelby is Very easy on our eyes.
I know folks will feel the depth of soul, struggle, joy, love, determination & experience in her music. She states
I write it, produce it, & stand behind it! A true artist paints their OWN picture."
This being said, I did hear a rumor that some of Shelby's many musical friends may be making guest appearances on her project. But not too many, she says. "I don't get when an artist puts out a record & has a guest artist on like 8 out of 10 songs. I never understood that. Aretha didn't have to do it."
