It has been over 20 years since Carmen Electra was discovered by Prince for her musical talents. Yes, music. Some may not know that of the former MTV game show co-host, Baywatch babe, Pussycat Doll, and a former Playboy model, but that is brought us to light of Carmen being on top.
Carmen Electra took to the Today show earlier this week to talk about her return to music, being 40, how her former mentor discovered her, and what people should make of her friendship with Simon Cowell.
She also talked about exactly what she liked loud, for those that aren't paying attention to the lyrics. Carmen did say she will have a full-length album out next year.
Carmen also appeared on VH1's Morning buzz to perform "I Like It Loud" live and talk about her and Simon Cowell's friendship. She also shows off her 40 year old buns that still look the same as they did 20 years ago.
"I Like It Loud" reminds me of something Kesha would sing....with more auto-tune. Interesting that the men are still hottering and hollering for Carmen Electra just like they were in 1992.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Get On Up Now....
So the worst kept secret in Hollywood is out; Britney Spears & Demi Lovato are your new X Factor judges, replacing Nicole Sherzinger and Paula Abdul. Still no word on who is replacing Steve Jones.
Over a month ago we talked about Britney's millions to judge on X Factor, $15 million to be exact, where there were others wanting to join the panel, including most vocally, Chaka Khan. They went and signed Demi Lovato instead, wanting an even younger demographic.
It has been reported that Britney was nervous at the press conference Monday and there are photos of her where she appears to have been biting her nails quite bad. She stumbled in her speech. Those that wanted her to fail and cause a train wreck on live TV are already salivating like birds in the desert over live meat. Pathetic.
As for Demi Lovato, others cannot go one sentence on her without saying "who" or talking about her barely getting paid a million dollars to be on the show. So what? Those that read DrFunkenberry.com on the regular know all about Demi Lovato with her ginormous hit "Skyscraper" last year and the problems she has had with her weight and other issues. People forget, she is not only judging but mentoring. Whose to say she does not get the girls 12-18? Her advice will be spot on as she is not so removed from that age. She will be able to help them in ways the other judges can't.
As for L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell, let's male no mistake about it; these are Simon's girls, not Reids. Ahhh, L.A., did you think we would forget last year when our girl Drew covered Lovato's "Skyscraper" and you called it "an old people song" and got booed by the crowd? Nope, we didn't forget buddy. Chris Rene so far has had more success than Melanie so far so we will give you that. Perhaps you are not as in touch as you thought is all. I remember you telling a friend of the site one time that he was "out of touch" but he has been proving to you ever since that "he is the touch" buddy.
All in all, I am looking forward to X Factor. Not for the train wreck. Britney will have her struggles but will still prove people wrong. For those that do not know who Demi is, we look forward to her judging, her input, and showing those Italian roots when Simon or L.A. try to put her down.
Are you looking forward to X Factor this fall?-DocFB
Chaka Khan appeared on Fox 11 Los Angeles Friday talking about a charity event she is doing and Chaka put it out there that she would like to be a judge on X Factor with Simon Cowell.
Chaka, looking marvelous, talked about her having the experience to be a judge and said "I can tell people that the post office is hiring" if a music career is not in the cards.
Chaka also talks about her event in Culver City, CA "An Intimate Evening With Chaka Khan taking place March 17th.
For more information on this event, click HERE.
In the interview with John Salley and Jillian Reynolds, Chaka also talks about being a Vegan and what the Vegan lifestyle means to her now. John Salley is just the right man to carry Chaka to the set to start the interview.-DocFB
We all knew Steve Jones would not be returning to X Factor and that Nicole Scherzinger was out, but Paula Abdul will not be returning as well.
According to reports, Paula Abdul was informed by the network that she would not be returning to X Factor.
We reported earlier this month that it was expected for Steve Jones to be released as host and Nicole Scherzinger would replace him as host and Mariah Carey would replace Nicole as judge. Although Simon Cowell and Fox are interested in Mariah, she has yet to commit.
This now leaves Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid as the only returning judges from the first season of X Factor.
Simon's former show, American Idol, has been slipping in the ratings in its first 2 weeks of the 10th season.
Paula Abdul was tweeting about X Factor earlier today but has not tweeted since the news broke of her departure from the show.
I felt that Nicole and Steve were the weak links of X Factor, even though all of Paula's teams were eliminated rather early in the show.
What do you think of Paula being let go from X Factor?-DocFB
Diagnosis: Who will fill the 3 open spots?
To sit or not to sit, that was the question between Simon Cowell and Drew on X Factor.
Drew sat and belted out "Billie Jean" and showed range and strength in her voice in her most powerful performance to date.
She is going to need more performances like that to challenge Melanie for the X Factor.
What did you think of Drew's performance of the MJ classic?-DocFB
Diagnosis: Getting close to the Factor.....
Astro and Stacy Francis ended up in the bottom 2 with Astro copping a major attitude.
Astro did not want to perform for the judges to save his spot. Bad decision. When your own mentor L.A. Reid wants to send you home, you messed up.
With the judges 2-1 to send Stacy Francis, the decision is in Simon Cowell's hands.
Simon went off on Astro and there were either cheers saying Astro...or was it A-Hole? Simon brought up Astro's mom and saying he was being disrespectful.
Astro said if he is in the bottom two, he doesn't want to perform for people who don't want me here. What's going to happen if he ends up in the bottom 2 again?
Astro lost fans after what he said and did. Simon sent home Stacy but said he almost changed his vote because of Astro's attitude.
There is no way Astro is making it to the top 4 at this point and time with only 9 acts left.
What did you think of Astro's attitude?-DocFB
Diagnosis: The right act was sent home.....grow the heck up though....
Melanie Amarro covered Whitney Houston last week and according to everyone but me, she killed it.
This week she performed "Desperado" and this week, she killed it.
I'm not a fan of the song but Melanie made it her own and her vocal delivery was spot on and heavenly.
She turned me into a believer last night for sure.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Amarro will sing tomorrow......
Josh Krajcik took to the stage and even before he sang a note, Simon Cowell thought it would be disaster. He was wrong.
He turned it into a soulful song. I'm still not digging his outfits but the guy has a voice where it really doesn't matter.
The delivery is there. The power is there. If I was other contestants, I would be worried.
Simon eating his words at the end is not something you see all the time.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Nailed It.....
Drew (The artist formerly known as Drew Ryniewicz) performed "Just A Dream" by Nelly on X Factor last night.
Drew is my pick so far to win it.
I'm not sure about the outfit but with a voice like that you would wear a potato sack and still sell out Madison Square Garden.
I liked the song but I wanted another song from her. Maybe it is only because I only get one song from her a week.
Why do we have a feeling Drew did not speak her first word when she was kid but she sang it.-DocFB
Diagnosis: She has yet to sing her best performance.....scary
