Maceo Parker did an interview with Tavis Smiley & Dr. Cornel West and talked about James Brown, what James calling him out meant and other stories. He shared stories on finding recording studios for James and how "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag" came to be. Maceo also talks about the first and only time he met Michael Jackson. They also talked about the future of funk and Maceo's answer is interesting. It is obvious that FUNK is going nowhere and it is where the party is. Prince took the stage after 9 P.M. and the upstairs area had more star power than American Idol that night with Tom Cruise, Katy Holmes, Tony Kanal of No Doubt, Dan Akroyd, Dr. Cornel West, Sanna Hamri,Tavis Smiley, Charlie Sheen, David Spade, Kelis, and later in the night, Bono.
