PRINCE & 3rdEyeGirl brought the funk n roll to the City National Grove of Anaheim yesterday for 2 shows. If you're smart and in the area, you will be at The Grove tonight for the last of a 2 night stand.
Out of all the venues I have seen the Live Out Loud tour at, the Grove is definitely the loudest. You might want to bring ear plugs. Don't worry, PRINCE's guitar and voice can be heard clearly on the Grove's system. Also, The Grove is taking PRINCE's wishes of no photography VERY seriously. They are on it. So seriously that I had to write my review and set list old school style...on pen and paper. Not so easy in the dark...and my handwriting isn't exactly that great!
The Grove had their stuff together. There seemed to be a mix up with the wristbands for the pit area for the second show but not going to mention what it was so no one tries it tonight and I'm sure the Grove will have that in order as well. Classy V.I.P. area and treatment compared to Las Vegas & San Diego. That extra touch makes things that much more enjoyable.
I will come back in further detail to give a review but will say that both shows were high energy for 3rdEyeGirl and the Orange County crowd. During "Purple Rain" when PRINCE felt the crowd was not loud enough, he said "we are a little bit far from Hollywood, let me hear your voices" and that might be why there is no Los Angeles tour date at all (yet) on this tour. The industry crowd would be too cool to sing along when we all know it is better together.
If you were at the shows, please share your thoughts and reviews in the comments section. Thank you.
In the middle of the 2nd show, the set list changed dramatically, as you can see below by clicking on the continue reading button.-DocFB
P.S. Special shout out to Tony Kanal of No Doubt who was in heaven with this band and the set lists. Tony knows his P shhh and was great being able to talk to him and get his thoughts on stuff. Great guy. Great musician.

Glee's much hyped Madonna episode aired last night and was my first time watching the show. Aside from not getting to watch the ending because Idol ran too long, I actually liked it. A part of it had to do with Lea Michele.
Lea Michele did a pretty good majority of the songs performed last night and did it pretty well. Madonna has a pretty vast catalog to choose from so I am sure the song choice was not easy.
Lea Michele was at the Grove over the weekend having lunch and the waiter noticed she was familiar and Lea decided to have fun with him. To her looking familiar, she said "like a young Julia Roberts? Yea I get that a lot." The waiter did agree but Lea put him out of his misery by saying "Have you ever heard of Glee? I'm on that."
Too bad the waiter stopped paying attention to the other tables around him as he forgot our drinks more than once. Tsk. Tsk. What does one have to do to get a refill of his iced tea? Perform a Madonna song on Glee? Hmm. I guess so.-Dr.FB
The Flash Mob's we told you about weeks ago went off on Saturday and for two of them, Janet Jackson showed up.
We had a few friends be a part of it and had this to say: "It was a lot of fun! Although the press was alerted that she was going to be there, it turned out cool still. The element of surprise was gone but she still has a ton of hardcore supporters. A great marketing event since her CD and TV appearances are this week."
The two she attended were at the Grove and the other at Citywalk.
Janet's #1's CD is almost here.......-Dr.FB
Zac Efron's "17 Again" debuted at number 1 at the box office this weekend. The comedy took in $24 Million and showed the former High School Musical star still has quitethe following despite challenges by Robert Pattinson to be the top teen-heartthrob in Hollywood.
Zac celebrated by being everywhere this weekend. From a stop at the Grove in L.A. to see 17 again on Friday night with fellow moviegoers, then the next day with girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens took in Coachella, and then on Sunday took in the Laker playoff game against the Utah Jazz.
Congrats Zac on the number 1 movie and here is hoping turning down "Footloose" does not burn you in the upcoming year or two.-Dr.FB
