Prince performed “The Beautiful Ones” for the very first time on Television on “Lopez Tonight” with dancer Misty Copeland.

This song holds a special place in my heart n I like Misty’s dancing in it.

    Song is great and Prince is great. Misty is ok but her dancing leaves nothing memorable or exciting. This duo just does not do it for me.

    Great show on Lopez. Loved it. Prince is great and so is Misty. Quit the negative comments. I’m sure you could do better!.Was wondering if they were the Twinz..LA is going to be fabulous. !

    This version was beautiful as how I remembered it at W2A series. Esp. loved the stacatto piano intro! But I agree with the constructive criticism. I’ve felt this way the first time I saw Misty Copeland in the Crimson & Clover video and I’m glad others are finally saying it as well. Hey… Who wants to be Negative Nancy?

    IMO:
    + Misty Copeland is an extremely talented ballerina for how late she started and how fast she came to be a professional. It was nice to see the show showcased a little more of her talent: turns, point, lines. If you look her up on youtube, you might understand how talented she is.

    – What she’s missing is that seductive factor that would compliment Prince. Check her out in Don Quixote. It’s a dance that involves flirting with the audience. Her talent is there, but she isn’t buying my love so easily.

    What it does to the duo? I’m feeling a lack of onstage chemistry between Prince & Misty. Where is that electricity in the eyes? The body language? The wanting magnetism that would lock them tight from 15ft away?

    About him not singing as strongly like on the album version… lol. Maybe he didn’t take that big of a breath as he thought he needed to! ROFL. He still hit those notes like he’s suppose to. Ow!

    Overall, still a great performance and oh so satisfying.

    The definition of chaos- doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. Misty is his attempt at creating a new Mayte. This performance lacked chemistry and Misty is no Mayte but then again he already did that so, this is the result. Mediocre

    I love this song. Prince started off a bit rocky and he readjusted himself. I have to agree he’s not the screamer that he used to be. This is the first time I saw Misty Copeland. Her performance was “meh”. Yes, I’ve studied ballet (except pointe) and other forms of dance. She has lovely leg extensions and her pointe work is beautiful, however the choreography was bland. She is a pretty girl doing turns, extensions – but that was it. When she danced on piano, that was a bit more exciting.
    I felt she could have had more diversity (levels, stronger performance “gestures”). Now, when Prince started loosing up – the crowd got into it. We the people want to see Prince “get off”.

    His performance was amazing, I’m happy to hear you were able to join in the funk!! Misty is very talented, but definitely distracting.. Prince does fine all by himself and has no problem keeping our attention and capturing the feeling of funkiness!!

    I love that he mainly has an all female band as well and it just goes to show that our man can appreciate talent when he sees/hears it!!!

    it was nice to hear this song again / if u have ever heard him do this song live back in the day (he was the best screamer at thie time) ud quickly hear why some say his vocals were a bit weak on this song. i’d have to agree but it still was nice to hear.

    he is bar none ONE of the best live acts today and his live shows are worth way more then $25 a head…….but am greatful he is making it so all can attend — thanks Prince see u at the show!!!

    and was i looking right….he ditched his high-heels on this number, at least for this song….

    I LOVED HIM but now that I think of it Misty seemed a little distracting. It’s like the chemistry fizzled or something. Also her dancing seemed to go nowhere like she just kept twirling. HOWEVER, I really love the TWINZ as they fit more and more with the whole look. What about The Beautifiul Ones with the Twinz as they try to enrapture him and he deals with their dual sides?? One twin can be the good girl and the other the bad girl. I dont know, I just think JUSTME has a point.
    Dr Funkenberry TELL PRINCE WE LOVE HIM & WHERE THERE IS SMOKE, THERE IS FIRE. IF something is off its for a reason….

    AGREED re Misty. Something was off with the ballet thing. I saw it in MSG & thought it was cool but kinda boring every night or if too many times. Dont get me wrong she is talented …but on a ballet stage.

    Muzic – the beginning sounded a bit shaky to me. Also, he doesn’t screech as high as the album version. Still his energy, command and talent here and on the other two songs is exemplary. I still love him after all these years and discs. LA is indeed in for quite the treat!!!

    I tend to get some news from the org, ignoring the opinions. Seems like it’s about tearing down things in hate and/or boredom. Yawn. Time for new directions…

    this performance was fabulous, i ditched the org along time ago, everytime i went on there it left a nasty taste in my mouth, positivity prince said!
