Justin Timberlake's "Suit & Tie" debuted at number 84 on the Billboard Charts and then jumped to #4 with the most adds ever in one week for a new single. That didn't last long as the single fell out of the top 10 to number 13.
The song dropped 65 percent in digital sales, down 200,000 copies.
The video has yet to be released and was shot last week in Los Angeles with Jay Z, which is where the photo above is from.
Although sales are down, "Suit & Tie" is gaining airplay. We have a feeling with the video release and with his performance on the Grammy's next week, the song will rebound back into the top 10.
It does show that perhaps a song with a gradual build-up tend to last longer on the charts and have more staying power than a song that hits so fast, it usually is gone within the month.-DocFB
Diagnosis: For the record, I still like the song.
The top Billboard artists of the past twenty years were all females; Rihanna, Britney Spears, Katy Perry and P!nk. But only one was the number one top pop artist. Who was it?
Rihanna is the number 1 top pop artist of the past 20 years charting 34 times. That is 21 top ten hits and 9 number one songs. Katy Perry has 9 number one songs herself in the past 5 years, tying Rihanna for most number ones.
Rihanna debuted in 2005, 7 years after Britney and P!nk respectively. Britney charted at number 2 and P!nk at number 3. The Billboard Charts still matter right? My check from them hasn't arrived in the mail yet so I can still be critical.
Rihanna tweeted the news to her 26 million twitter followers: "Billboard crowned me #1 Top 40 artist of the decade just [seven] years into this!! My fans just majorly shat on ur existence."
Er, shat on who? Was going to say congrats but I think that tweet did it for me.-DocFB
Diagnosis: I want to thank my twitter followers for making me the 769th most popular blog on the Net. Perez's fans just shat on our existence.
We are not sure if the album is that good....still...or there just is a lack of new good music CD's being released, but Adele has returned to the number 1 spot on the Billboard Album Charts.
Adam Lambert, Carrie Underwood, and Adele have been trading places for number 1 for the past month. She sold 74,000 copies this week after her NBC special.
We have a feeling this stay at number 1 will not be long with new CD's by Usher and Wacka Flaka Flame that came out this week.
The Adele Cd has now sold over 9 million copies. Unheard of in this day and age.
So..who doesn't own this Adele CD?-DocFB
Right now, Katy Perry is tied for the most #1's off one album with Michael Jackson. She is the only female artist with 5 number ones and Michael's record is bound to be hers with her latest single moving up the charts. This is according to the Billboard charts.
The song is at number 18 on this week's charts and the video debuted on Friday on Ellen' show and has had 12 million hits since then.
Basically, sometime between Thanksgiving weekend and Christmas, Katy will surpass Jackson and have 6 number 1's from one album.
Michael Jackson's 5 number 1's were from his "Bad" album and were "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," "Bad," "The Way You Make Me Feel," "Man in the
Mirror" and "Dirty Diana" between 1987 and 1988.
Katy Perry's 5 numbers so far are "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream," "Firework", "E.T.", and "Last Friday Night" from her Teenage Dream album.
The new video for "The One That Got Away" features what would be an 80-year-old Katy with an enormous forehead. She is thinking about the one who got away and the ending is not exactly the happiest.
We are sure the MJ fans will not like this and state the charts do not mean anything anymore. The thing is, all of her hits of the past 2 years have had an impact musically and visually. "The One That Got Away" is not exactly her most spectacular video but with how many hits it is getting and with guest star Diego Luna in it, it is only a matter of time before the song becomes her 6th number 1 from one album and takes Jackson's record for good.-DocFB
Diagnosis: More Number One's by a female artist off of one album including Mariah, Whitney, Madonna, and yes, even Gaga
Rihanna has her 11th number 1 Billboard chart hit passing up legend Stevie Wonder and Janet Jackson, who both had 10.
The 11th number 1 is "We Found Love" which features Calvin Harris. She ties Whitney Houston who also has 11.
Only The Beatles (20), Mariah Carey (18), Michael Jackson (13), Madonna (12), and The Supremes (12) have more.
"Found", Rihanna's latest single from her new album "Talk That Talk" due for release November 21st, has now spent two weeks at number 1 on the download charts, being downloaded almost 250,000 times off of I-Tunes. The song has already been downloaded a million times, making it her 20th song to be downloaded over a million times.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Will most likely hit 12 number ones by end of year
Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" debuted at number 1 selling just under 200,000 copies. Let's see if it has staying power.
For now, here is behind the scenes footage of the "Teenage Dream" Album cover and CD smelling like cotton candy.-Dr.FB
Lifehouse, whose biggest hit was "Hanging On A Moment" has another hit on their hands "Halfway Gone" as their CD "Smoke & Mirrors" debuted at #6 on the Billboard charts. That is the band's highest debut ever and it could be debuting on Funkenberry Radio shortly. It is up to you.
Lifehouse is currently set to take the road with Daughtry as the tour kicks off later this week.
