Lifehouse, whose biggest hit was “Hanging On A Moment” has another hit on their hands “Halfway Gone” as their CD “Smoke & Mirrors” debuted at #6 on the Billboard charts.  That is the band’s highest debut ever and it could be debuting on Funkenberry Radio shortly.  It is up to you.

Lifehouse is currently set to take the road with Daughtry as the tour kicks off later this week.

Kesha Or Ke$ha If Your Nasty. File Photo

Kesha or Ke$ha if your nasty,  within a week has hit number 1 spot  on Billboard chart as we predicted wirth her debut CD, taking away the number 1 spot from Susan Boyle who has a had a stranglehold on the top spot for over a month.

It also did not take “Tik Tok” long to make it to the number 1 spot on Funkenberry radio, being the most played song of the week after it’s debut.  The number 1 spot is made up by you by how many times you access the station, which is to the right on the front page of the web site. 

It seems a majority of you are putting down the track but at the same time, are giving it a listen.  Congrats to Kesha, who we have a feeling could have a big 2010.-Dr.FB

Conquering the US with his soon to be number 1 CD “Battle Studies” is not enough for John Mayer. He headed over Toronto to dominate over there.

Dressed for Toronto weather, John Mayer came with sharpie in hand to sign some autographs for fans before performing at the Hard Rock Cafe over there for some select fans who won a John Mayer contest.

Congrats to John on his CD debuting at number #1 this week on the Billboard charts.  They still matter to somebody.-Dr.FB

It’s been 13 years since Pearl Jam has topped the Billboard Charts, but it looks like their most recent release, “Backspacer” could hit #1 by week’s end. Billboard reported that the record, released on Sunday, September 20th, is not on a major label and is exclusively being sold in the U.S. through Target, iTunes, independent retailers and the band’s own website.

We wish Pearl Jam much luck in achieving the top spot! I have the new record and it is HOT!!

Ashley Tisdale performed at the Americana Mall last night and 3,500 fans showed up. I think that may have been more than they were expecting even though her CD was just number 1 on the Billboard Charts.

It got a point where they did not allow patrons to shop because of how many people were there in the concert area. Our on the spot person also had trouble getting out of the event.

Demi Lovato's Here We Go Again Cover Release Date 07/21/09

Demi Lovato sold 107,000 copies to debut at number one on Billboards Album Charts. This is Lovato’s 2nd number 1 album I believe.

She is 16 right? WTH? Debbie Gibson had 2 number 1 cd’s before she was 16 right?  Man.  Congrats to you Demi. No more cutting for you, right?-Dr.FB

Maxwell Sits Atop Billboard Charts. Promo Photo

8 years later, Maxwell has a new CD out and it is on top of the charts like we thought it would be.  The CD sold 316,000 copies which actually is his highest sales in one week ever.  Interesting.

He recently did an interview with the Associated Press and this to say:

AP: Your CD is part of a trilogy, and the subsequent CDs will be released in 2010 and 2011. Do feel like the other two CDs will have to be altered just because every second, everyday our lives and emotions change?

Maxwell: Hopefully with the topics and with what I’ve written and what I’ve experienced I think they’ll be able to stand the test of time. “Pretty Wings” was written not lyrically but musically in 2002. Just before we release (the others) I’ll probably go back to the studio and tweak things here and there.

AP: I know the first single “Pretty Wings” is about your last relationship, but have you been able to be date now that the CD is out and you’re on tour?

Maxwell: I’m trying. I met somebody and there’s a lot of feeling there but it’s tough to try to juggle it with a career. That’s kind of why I wanted to wait too. I want to have relationship. I got to meet girls who didn’t even know what I did and thought it was funny. “Oh, that’s cute. That’s what you do? Cool, anyway” To be honest with you I kind of like it. It’s good to be respected but I don’t want people to think like, “Oh my god, he’s like a rocket scientist.”

AP: Have you considered growing back your hair (his full Afro was his signature look for years)?

Maxwell: (Laughs) I probably will. Thank God I can. That’s the one cool thing, there’s an option. I’m kind of happy. I’ve got some of my friends who have lost their hair. I’m just grateful there is an option.

AP: What’s been the biggest growth you’ve seen in yourself since you debuted in 1996?

Maxwell: I actually can accept love a lot easier. I don’t question it so much. I’m not suspicious as much. I was pretty suspicious. Especially when you start to have celebrity around you, you don’t know if people really like you or if they’ve got stars in their eyes or whatever. I’m much more trusting. I feel a lot more permanent especially with the time away and coming back.

Prince’s new 3 cd set Lotus Flow3r debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 with about 168,000 sold, although Hits Magazine had Prince at number 1 with almost 20,000 more copies sold.  Keith Urban outsold Prince by 3,000 copies if the numbers stay the same.Hits numbers usually always differ from soundscan, which is what Billboard and the public go by.

We are wondering where those 20,000 copies went or were they not counted.  It is an impressive debut but if those 20,000 copies were sold, the CD should be at number 1.  

Perhaps what Prince said about the music industry is true and then Bria Valente actually lost the bet….

Billboard is the gold standard. Let me say this; Lotus Flow3er is Prince’s best first week sales since 3121, which debuted at number 1 with over 180,000 sold.

The music industry is everchanging and Prince is still that dude challenging it, 25 years after his first number 1 album on Billboard.

Prince (and Bria), you may not have debuted at number 1 but you are number 1 with us.-Dr.FB

We just received word* that Bria Valente and Prince have a gentlewoman’s bet going on in need of resolution….

Despite the discriminatory practices of the music industry with regards to Prince for the past decade or so, Ms Valente has ALWAYS believed that their CD would enter the Billboard chart at NUMERO UNO.  Extremely high hopes for a BRAND NEW ARTIST like herself but early calculations show she may indeed get her wish!

This is where it gets interesting, everyone….

IF the CD does debut there, Prince has promised her a bash to end all bashes at a location of her choice.  I am gonna say this, our spies will not rest until we find out what Prince gets if Bria loses the bet.  I know this male mind short-circuits at the mere thought of the FINAL outcome!

Britney Spears will return to the top of the Billboard charts today.

Circus has sold 500,000 copies in it’s first week despite heavy leakage of the album online weeks earlier.  Britney’s tour will be kicking off in March of 2009. 

 Not entirely impressed with the new music or the lipsyncing of late but she has 4 months to get it together and I am impressed with great she has been looking lately, health-wise and body.-Dr.FB
