PRINCE 3rdEyeGirl Anaheim Poster Design By LV

PRINCE & 3rdEyeGirl brought the funk n roll to the City National Grove of Anaheim yesterday for 2 shows. If you're smart and in the area, you will be at The Grove tonight for the last of a 2 night stand. Out of all the venues I have seen the Live Out Loud tour at, the Grove is definitely the loudest. You might want to bring ear plugs. Don't worry, PRINCE's guitar and voice can be heard clearly on the Grove's system. Also, The Grove is taking PRINCE's wishes of no photography VERY seriously. They are on it. So seriously that I had to write my review and set list old school style...on pen and paper. Not so easy in the dark...and my handwriting isn't exactly that great! The Grove had their stuff together. There seemed to be a mix up with the wristbands for the pit area for the second show but not going to mention what it was so no one tries it tonight and I'm sure the Grove will have that in order as well. Classy V.I.P. area and treatment compared to Las Vegas & San Diego. That extra touch makes things that much more enjoyable. I will come back in further detail to give a review but will say that both shows were high energy for 3rdEyeGirl and the Orange County crowd. During "Purple Rain" when PRINCE felt the crowd was not loud enough, he said "we are a little bit far from Hollywood, let me hear your voices" and that might be why there is no Los Angeles tour date at all (yet) on this tour. The industry crowd would be too cool to sing along when we all know it is better together. If you were at the shows, please share your thoughts and reviews in the comments section.  Thank you. In the middle of the 2nd show, the set list changed dramatically, as you can see below by clicking on the continue reading button.-DocFB P.S. Special shout out to Tony Kanal of No Doubt who was in heaven with this band and the set lists. Tony knows his P shhh and was great being able to talk to him and get his thoughts on stuff. Great guy. Great musician. Diagnosis: Cali4nia...knows how 2 party....

Photo: Drfunkenberry.com[/caption] Nikka Costa invaded California last week for 2 shows in Southern California and 2 shows in Northern California and the funk was hot, sweaty, and nasty. The San Francisco shows were straight fire as you would expect.  The shows in San Juan Capistrano and Redondo Beach brought out some real music lovers with Nikka doing about a 95 minute set alone in Redondo Beach, playing a plethora of her back catalog sans "Push & Pull" and I'm not sure if it was played at her other shows.
