Arielle (mentored by Queen Guitarist, Brian May) released her debut official video for "California."
The video features Arielle visiting some of the 31st state's most beautiful scenery (including the light-laced City of Angels) while singing that she "can't find the sunshine in California." "I didn’t fit in," says Arielle of the feeling she had growing up and later, trying to find her footing in music. Her self-titled EP (set for release on April 29th, 2014 on Open E Music) is the sound of claiming her place – creatively, emotionally, and existentially.
Yet the New Jersey native has lived in California for most of her life, singing since age five (with the prestigious San Francisco Bay Area Peninsula Girls Chorus) and then learning the piano, trumpet and at age 10, guitar.
By 16, she’d become a rock-guitar virtuoso (even earning the attention of her childhood idol, Queen guitarist Brian May,) before being “discovered” by guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. (Extreme, Rihanna.) Soon after, Arielle landed in the studio of Red Decibel Music Group (Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato and Switchfoot) and met with producer/co-writers Adam Watts, Andy Dodd and Gannin Arnold.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Arielle is also vamping up for a special performance at the 17th Annual Triple A Sunset Session in Solana Beach, CA at Belly Up on February 22nd (Sold Out) and recently performed at The Hotel Café and The House of Blues Foundation Room in Los Angeles, CA. The Supreme Court just handed down the decision that Doma is unconstitutional and equal marriage rights will be returning to the State Of California.
So straight people, gay people, baby blue people can be married again.
DOMA is unconstitutional as a deprivation of the equal liberty of persons that is protected by the Fifth Amendment. DOMA singles out a class of persons deemed by a State entitled ot recognition and protection to enhance their own liberty. The opinion and its holding are confined to those lawful marriages … The federal statute is invalid, for no legitimate purpose overcomes the purpose and effect to disparage and injure those whom the State, by its marriage laws, sought to protect in personhood and dignity. By seeking to displace this protection and treating those persons as living in marriages less respected than others … DOMA has been struck down. Opinion is by Justice Kennedy, joined by the four liberal Justices — Ginsburg, Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan.
This will only impact California. The proponents of Prop 8 did not have the right to be represented in court.
PRINCE & 3rdEyeGirl brought the funk n roll to the City National Grove of Anaheim yesterday for 2 shows. If you're smart and in the area, you will be at The Grove tonight for the last of a 2 night stand.
Out of all the venues I have seen the Live Out Loud tour at, the Grove is definitely the loudest. You might want to bring ear plugs. Don't worry, PRINCE's guitar and voice can be heard clearly on the Grove's system. Also, The Grove is taking PRINCE's wishes of no photography VERY seriously. They are on it. So seriously that I had to write my review and set list old school style...on pen and paper. Not so easy in the dark...and my handwriting isn't exactly that great!
The Grove had their stuff together. There seemed to be a mix up with the wristbands for the pit area for the second show but not going to mention what it was so no one tries it tonight and I'm sure the Grove will have that in order as well. Classy V.I.P. area and treatment compared to Las Vegas & San Diego. That extra touch makes things that much more enjoyable.
I will come back in further detail to give a review but will say that both shows were high energy for 3rdEyeGirl and the Orange County crowd. During "Purple Rain" when PRINCE felt the crowd was not loud enough, he said "we are a little bit far from Hollywood, let me hear your voices" and that might be why there is no Los Angeles tour date at all (yet) on this tour. The industry crowd would be too cool to sing along when we all know it is better together.
If you were at the shows, please share your thoughts and reviews in the comments section. Thank you.
In the middle of the 2nd show, the set list changed dramatically, as you can see below by clicking on the continue reading button.-DocFB
P.S. Special shout out to Tony Kanal of No Doubt who was in heaven with this band and the set lists. Tony knows his P shhh and was great being able to talk to him and get his thoughts on stuff. Great guy. Great musician.

Tamar's last CD "Sinner Or A Saint" was released via Interscope/Cherrytree a couple of years ago and...a few things happened. Let's just say that Tamar is HAPPY to be an independent artist. All she will say about "Sinner Or A Saint" right now is this;
“Sinner Or A Saint was an album that is real and true to me, both personally and artistically,”
Tamar is now at Columbia University studying political science and creative writing. She also has a new blog out as well.
"California" is a breezy tune with Tamar driving around parts of California and walking in the desert in flats but making sure she rocks the high heels in the bedroom. I like that version of California....you know, the open road and a beautifully talented girl in a swimming pool.
The California Track list consists of:
2. All Or Nothing
3. Good Times
4. Come Home (Walk The Line)
5. Feels So Good
Check out her site to find out how U can own the EP. Below is her version of "Apologize" by Onerepublic which garnered her much attention in the industry in the first place. Go on, get it Tamar!-DocFB
Nikka Costa invaded California last week for 2 shows in Southern California and 2 shows in Northern California and the funk was hot, sweaty, and nasty.
The San Francisco shows were straight fire as you would expect. The shows in San Juan Capistrano and Redondo Beach brought out some real music lovers with Nikka doing about a 95 minute set alone in Redondo Beach, playing a plethora of her back catalog sans "Push & Pull" and I'm not sure if it was played at her other shows.

Temecula, California's Brewer Boys performed "Only Girl In The World" by Rihanna for Paula Abdul and Pharrell on X Factor.
The duo was great, but did not blow me away. They were in harmony but, not sure. Man, the groups are the hard one. Paula is up to the challenge and I am glad it is her and not me.
I just don't know about this one. What do you all think?-DocFB
