In a statement Wednesday, Hall said he was fortunate to be diagnosed with a “treatable and curable condition,” Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and thanked his doctors and nurses for their expertise.

The hospital name was not released to the public. The 38 year old actor is recovering and will attend the Golden Globe Awards this Sunday.

I was fortunate enough to hang with Hall at an Emmy after party a couple years back and he is great guy. He may be silent but he is cool. Glad he will recover.-Dr.FB

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar announced that he is battling a rare form of leukemia. He found out last December but only made the information public yesterday.

His prognosis is good but not guaranteed.  he got himself checked out after not feeling well and having hot flashes.  He got checked out at UCLA medical center, the school he played for in college. He thought he had a month to live but they assured him he may be able to make it.

“I’ve never been a person to share my private life. But I can help save lives,” he said at a midtown Manhattan conference room. “It’s incumbent on someone like me to talk about this.”

You all know I am a Laker fan and I was lucky enough as a kid to attend Kareem’s final regular season game against the Seattle Supersonics at the Los Angeles Forum.  Kareem on the rocking chair while Magic and us fans saluting him.  I truly hope he pulls through.  Each human life is not worth more than another, but some may effect us more than others.

Good luck and prayers sent your way Kareem.-Dr.FB

All of us, at one time or another, have gone to the tanning salon in search of that glowing tan that most of us long for.  You know, thinking it was safer that toasting your self under the sun’s rays,  fearing you will get home and find a black dot! Oh no, it can’t be!!

Well kids, keep your money in your pocket, hit the beach and get that tan naturally.  The risk is slightly less that those damn tanning beds.

Experts say tanning beds increase the risk of cancer.  The International Agency for Research  (IARC) announced that it is now fact. Until now, the committee of experts who advise the World Health Organization had not confirmed a link between tanning beds, sunlamps, and cancer. The group made the decision after reviewing studies that showed teens and young adults who used tanning beds increased their risk of developing

melanoma by a whopping  seventy-five percent.
