Thank You + My Thoughts On Michael Jackson & Hollywood

Posted in Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity News, Entertainment on June 29th, 2009 by drfunkenberry

I say this VERY bitter-sweetly.  Last week, drfunkenberry.com had it’s biggest week by far. With the Perez Hilton/Wil I am story, Farrah Fawcett’s expected death and the very unexpected death of Michael Jackson and our credibility shooting thru the roof. Bittersweet I say.

It was much easier earlier in the week to attack Perez and the numbers were high as we were covering the story and being on top of our game, our numbers were looking good.  Petty as crap now in all honesty.

Then Michael Jackson.  Sigh.  The first two sites to report Michael’s passing were TMZ and us. Perez had to change his dissing of MJ with a story of his passing so the timing of his was off.  Listen.  It’s nothing to be proud of.  We were NOT trying to be the first. We just assumed the CNN’s of the world would follow suit.  We didn’t know it would take 2 hours for them to confirm his passing.

After that, our daily pageviews have almost doubled and we know that it is because you trust me/us for the news we bring you.  It means a lot to me and I thank you but again, it is bittersweet.  To have him still here, take away those daily views. It. Just. Doesn’t. Matter.

So I have a message for Hollywood and you Celebrity doctors. I want you to hear it loud and clear.  You took away Anna Nicole Smith too soon. You took away Heath Ledger way too soon.  You took Michael Jackson away too soon. Prescribed medicine when not needed is just as lethal as crack, heroin, or meth.

You so-called doctors, what the heck happened to ethics?  They don’t need the crap, don’t give it to them.

You celebrities, sometimes when people tell you no, they are not doing it to be dicks. Realize that the ones who give you that crap when you don’t need it, don’t give a damn about you. They want to be your buddy, but not really.  They just want that life.  They want to write that tell-all book about you because they know sooner or later, your ass is gonna be dead and they will be getting your riches. They are not your friends.

Also, Randy Phillips, did Michael Jackson REALLY pass that physical a few months ago?  I’m not in bed with AEG like Perez so I can say it.  Mr. Phillips, if he really did not pass that physical, all of this is on you as well as that doctor right now. You know that right?  50 shows when he hasn’t done a full one in 10 years? Come on now.

I just had to get a few things off my chest everyone and thank you for sticking with us and spreading the word about us.  You having faith in our credibility means a lot to me/us.  Hollywood, it’s time to check yourself.-Dr.FB

Eminem’s Cryptic Message? Updated

Is this the cover for Relapse 2 to be released later this year?  Was this Eminem last Halloween in a weird ode to the Heath Ledger’s Joker and a combo thrown in of Hugh Hefner and a pirate sword for good measure?

Or maybe he is a new member of the Insane Clown Posse.  Uhoh.

Eminem had this message under the photo:

A world so dark, a world so cold… The devil only knows. It’s Friday, the 19th.

I wonder if it is a hint that Relapse 2 will be released on June 19th?  We will see.

What we do know is that Eminem’s new CD Relapse offically drops today.  It was leaked online weeks ago and has had some pretty disparaging reviews although the fans have stood by it so far.

What we do know is that Eminem is performing 2 more nights on Jimmy Kimmel soon and is throwing a free concert in his hometown of Detroit.

Others may say it’s cheap promotion?  Me?  I don’t care and it comes off as promotion and very charitable.  Last time I checked, that was pretty cool.  I am sure even the ICP would agree.-Dr.FB

Update:  Just spoke with a friend from Interscope and Relapse 2 is scheduled for later this year.  Much later.   Think November/December.  Just wanted to keep the Shadyheads in the loop.

No. 2 The Death Of Heath Ledger

Posted in Celebrity News, Entertainment, Movies on January 5th, 2009 by drfunkenberry
The World Lost A Talented Actor In Heath Ledger. File Photo

The World Lost A Talented Actor In Heath Ledger. File Photo

January 22nd, 2008 in New York, Heath Ledger died.  He died of an apparent overdose.  The movie industry, movie fans, and fans of the actor were in shock.  His loved ones in disbelief.

You know when you heard his name as the one who had died, your mouth dropped.  You did a double take.  Your first thought after the shock; he was so young.  Sleeping pills did him in. Sleeping pills.

He admitted in interviews that he was having a rough time sleeping after playing the villain Joker in the latest Batman movie, the Dark Knight.  One pill, which should knock you out for 8 hours, would knock him out for 90 minutes.  So he would take several instead of understanding his body became immune to the pills shortly after taking them.

The Dark Knight movie seemed cursed from the get go.  A stuntman died the 1st week of shooting.  Another death happened.  Then Heath’s after filming.  Then Morgan Freeman escaped death in the south.  The weekend of the movie, Christian Balle’s estranged family came after him.  Crazy.  Maybe Johnny Depp may want to rethink that Riddler character.

Heath Ledger jumped on the screen in 1999’s Ten Things I Hate About You.  Having modest success with movies such as A Knight’s Tale, he took on the role of a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain.  Not getting the Oscar and jokes behind his back, Heath stood out in a role that would have been taboo and untouchable years prior, but he took the role which gained him respect.

After agreeing to take the Joker role, some questioned his acting ability to do that and how could a person who played a gay cowboy play that role.  Leaks of Heath dressed in Joker garb dispelled most of that talk and had people going, wow, he is actually going to pull this off.  It is a shame that Heath did not live to see how respected his version of the Joker is.  How respected he is.

I must reiterate; If Heath does not only get nominated for an Oscar, and if he does not win it, the Academy Awards in many industry insiders eyes, will now be deemed as useless.  Think of it as giving Denzel the Oscar for Training Day instead of the countless other movie roles he owned over the years.  Why so serious?  Because Heath Ledger was the Best in movies of 2008.-Dr.FB

No. 7 The Dark Knight Scores At The Box Office

Even before the death of Heath Ledger, the talk of the Dark Knight series and Heath playing the Joker was hitting legend status.  When Heath was first announced in the role, the fan boy community of comic book readers were up in arms.  How could he come close to Jack Nicholson’s Joker.  The Fact? In the end, he set the standard for all future Jokers.

The Dark Knight did not alter it’s release date or it’s promotional plan and it succeeded setting box office records for opening day and opening weekend.  It is currently 2nd place behind Titanic and is going to be re-released in theatres in just a few weeks.

The movie was long and dark and on point in all aspects.  Christian Bale was overshadowed and he did not care.  People were paying more attention to the Joker than Batman’s sometimes annoying speech.

The Joker is the all time classic villan and Heath took him to new heights.  Unfortunately, Heath may have played him too well and had trouble sleeping which led to his untimely death in his 20’s.  It is a known fact in Hollywood right now, if Heath does not get the Oscar for his portrayal, the Acadamy will have very much got it wrong.-Dr.FB
