Is TBS Learning About Conan What NBC Already Knew?

I am not going to make you search for what NBC knew and TBS is just finding out about Conan.  I am going to say it right now.  Conan O'Brien is a better follower than a lead-in.  The only thing saving Conan from being cancelled like "Lopez Tonight" is his ad buy rate and that he got nominated for an Emmy.

Conan is on cruise control and if he can shift into high gear, he will be getting cancelled this time next year.  It is just how he was on "The Tonight Show" when he took over.  Only after getting threatened by NBC to put Leno back did Conan switch into high gear and become funny.  Now, he is back to his usual self, even shaving off his beard a couple of months ago.

I am not going to hate on Leno.  Anyone with a brain should have known they gave him that 10 p.m. time slot just in case Coco couldn't do it.  Why couldn't he see that?  Just because an executive says you have a job doesn't mean you stop trying n act like you don't need to do anything but show up.  You hear everything about Leno.  He is unfunny.  Safe.  Old.  Tired out.  You never hear about his work ethic.  He kills it.  That is why "The Tonight Show" was back to number 1 as soon as Jay was put back in the seat.

Jimmy Fallon's success is mainly because Leno is a good lead-in for him.  If NBC did not pull Conan when they did, it would have been Fallon getting cancelled and Lopez still on at 11 going strong.  Conan sucks as a lead-in.  George's ratings at 11 were fine but have him follow Conan at 12, Conan was losing 40% of the viewership before G.Lo even went on the air.

There was a reason last year when I said Fox should sign Conan to late night but bring "Lopez Tonight" to Fox and let George be the lead-in and Conan the follower.  If TBS wasn't so hard for Conan and his demands, George would have been the 11 P.M. guy and Conan would have followed and they both would still have a job.

Conan was the man from 2002 til 2005.  Almost 10 years ago.   Jimmy Kimmel is edgier and that is saying something.  Fallon tries harder . He stopped laughing at his own jokes and has that Leno lead-in.  Bottom line; If Conan is better than Jay, he better start proving it already.-Dr.FB

Conan Blows $1.5 Million On Comedy Skit

Conan O'Brien is going after NBC and hitting them where it will hurt the most; in the wallet.

Conan O'Brien purchased the world's most expensive car and dressed it up as a mouse and The Rolling Stones song "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" play as the rights to the song are very expensive to use.  The total price tag of the gag?  1.5 Million.

Check the clip above.  Funny and expensive?  Or just expensive?-Dr.FB

Conan Slams NBC: “Hard Core Porn Is Classier”

Wow. Conan was NOT joking around tonight as his monologue took it to NBC and said he was going to leave with as many office supplies as humanly possible and rob this place blind.

He talked about some options that he has and even moving to Lifetime and a male version of Cougertown.

The big jab was wen Conan said he should leave the business all together and work with a classier business with better people like hard core porn.

Ouch. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Leno Show Cancelled As Late Night Lays In Limbo

NBC made the news "official" when they announced the cancellation of "The Jay Leno Show" on Sunday, which will take place Feb. 12th.

NBC wants Jay back at 11:30 P.M., and Conan either at 12:00 or 12:30 followed by Jimmy Fallon.  In my opinion, Conan took his late night slot too easy in the sense of he never thought there was going to be a threat of it being taken away.

For those that followed an article I wrote back in August, where I called Conan the George W. Bush of talk show hosts, I saw this coming.   NBC says what they will do with Conan will be made clear in the future.  The reason they say that, is they expect either Conan to walk away and go elsewhere or get a huge pay day, or, the most surprising, for him to stay where he is.

Let's be honest here; a 30 minute Leno show won't work.  They say 30 minutes but they want Leno for the full hour.  They knew the announcement would upset Conan and it did.  It's interesting because they said they spoke with Conan and Fallon on Sunday and they were both "cool" with the decision.

More will be made clear with Conan soon but I have a feeling it will take some time.  Negotiations with NBC between Jay, Conan, and Jimmy are expected to start today.-Dr.FB

Video: Leno Strikes First

Jay Leno took to his monologue to talk about the rumors of him leaving. He hinted that Fox is nice this time of year and that NBC only cancells you when you are the number one show. That is an obvious dig at him being "forced" out of the 11:30 time slot last year.

David Letterman's ratings are getting higher as his scandal for blackmail unfolds. He got a 5 in the ratings on Monday, as ratings were not high. It looks like Conan is barely getting half of that.

I am telling you again, Conan would kill for the attention Dave is getting right now.-Dr.FB
