I just got this in from a no-name reporter regarding’s Prince TV Appearance from earlier this week and wanted to share:
STRAIGHT FROM THE SOURCE: THE STOOL PRINCE WAS USIN ON THE LE GRAND JOURNAL WAS A PROP, NOT A CRUTCH. LOL THE SONG WAS CALLED DANCE 4 ME, NOT WATCH ME DANCE 4 U. HE WAS GONNA USE A LAZY BOY OR CHAISE LOUNGE BUT THERE WASN’T TIME OR SPACE.
AFTER VIEWING THE RUN THRU, IT WAS DECIDED THAT THE STOOL LOOKED FLY SO IT WAS KEPT IT IN THE SHOW. BESIDES, ULTRABUSY LEAD SINGERS R ALL OVER TV THESE DAYS AND DUDE JUST WANTED 2 PLAY THE GUITAR AND LET THE AUDIENCE’S EYES FOCUS ON THE DANCERS WHO DID AN XCELLENT JOB DANCING 4 EVERYONE. LOL BTW…. DID ANYONE C THE LONG VERSION OF KISS FROM THE SATURDAY NIGHT GRAND PALAIS CONCERT AND CARE 2 COMMENT?”
Thanks for sharing. You know, I always thought if Prince made a video for “Dance 4 Me”, he should be sitting down watching people dance 4 him, where you just see his singlasses or mouth or sometimes just his heel, so you know it’s him and you get to see glimpses of him but the people dancing for him don’t. Just my idea.
As for that long version of “Kiss”, ahem, anyone have video out there we could share? You know you gotta love the french “Kiss” so don’t front.-Dr.FB

Could it be that this no-name reporter is Prince himself? He writes in CAPITALS and uses a similar syntax. Prince, you don’t have to excuse yourself for sitting while playing by “leaking” this whole background story.

I realised the stool was a prop, but only AFTER the performance when he managed without but it bothered me though throughout as I thought his legs/back/bones were giving him jip afterall the little fella had a busy week.
The chaise lounge would have worked much better, what a lovely idea!

Look I have been listening to prince since I was 7 and watching him operate. His non-musical activities are nowhere near as mysterious as his artistic output. His PR is very bad, the fact is for years Prince has not moved the same and yes there was rumors about him needing surgery for his hip, ok, hes human and did splits, all forgiven, lil guy, no worry. Even Wendy mentioned in a interview she wished he was ok and was in a lot of pain. What he is hiding is the fact he needs surgery and no amount of praying can fix it. He belongs to a church/cult/Followers of others ideas on life and they tell him god doesn’t want him to have anything to do with blood, hence he can not get the surgery, it’s rather sad, in fact it’s depressing. I wish he thought for himself and thought god worked through people like Doctors so he could get help. But he’s atoning for his past sins hardcore(neglecting vast amounts of his past work due 2 church rules I would guess)
If this was his idea I could live with it, but he’s letting others think for him and tell him what god wants, which makes him a follower of man, dead men, not even his god. It’s sad I can dance to his music minus painkillers, but he can’t. He might feel like leader by teaching Bria like he was taught, but he’s walking in others shoes and she’s just out for him like everyone else.
I hope this JW thing passes and he learns to think for himself and see the world and his life in a new light, with a brand new hip so he can dance. Doesn’t God want us all too dance? Sad. Lost Michael to crazy thinking and drugs, Madonna is also in a cult, it’s only a matter of time. I got mine and you got yours to live though, I’ll be on the dance floor, maybe he will meet us there when he sees his own light.
I’ve been keeping this inside for so long, I will not be in a flame war, nor will I reply again, I just hope he or someone else close to him helps him, enough YES men, someone say NO and talk to him a a person, not a Prince.

@Audio Verite – no flames here – I quite agree with you. I don’t feel Prince has the religion thing worked out for himself yet. Finding The Truth, wherever you seek it, is about internal reconciliation (amongst other things) and I still feel he struggles in that area.
@Ian – please take your negativity to prince.org where it belongs. The Doctor’s site is a happy place so let’s keep it that way!
The fact that he felt it necessary to issue this “release” about why he was sitting down should be enough indication that he is hypersensitive about his stage appearance vis a vis his movement these days.
Whether it’s a hip problem or not, dude is 50 years old… He may not believe in time, but his body does! It’s okay if he doesn’t prance around like he used to… he’s still quite capable of delivering showstopping performances.
Just my two cents, but I have the feeling that Prince is a very pragmatic Jehova’s Witness, So I don’t see the guy as such a victim of his religion.
And he still sings about how girls should doll themselves up and be sexy for him so he can waste money on them and all those kind of “worldly” stuff that very strict devoted believers would usually shy away from. I know what I’m talking about since I’ve been the target of those wannabe saviours – somehow I’m too polite to slam the door in their faces- a couple of times.
My guess is that if he thinks he needs his medical care, he will. Whatever you can say about him, he’s not stupid. And by the way; hip and knee operations are not things that doctors want to perform spontaneously. At least with knees they try to extend it as long as possible since these artificial things only last 15 years or something and after that you can repeat it only once and then it’s really wheelchair. So perhaps Prince is doing the math on actual age and his life expectancy too.

well, i wish him wise decision making, i’m still reeling from the canal performance – interesting views all round then….. i find certain prince sites illuminating in there concept/bad language i can’t tollerate from certain peeps – but that’s just me! It’s not nice having to use a wheelchair or to be in constant pain – can i say that doc? prayers for him tonight – in my religion– thanks for reporting doc – we appreciate it—-lol

Prince can sit on a stool or whatever his little heart desires.I’ll take it however I can hear it!But of course I always LOVE 2 c him dance!My idea for the video will be revealed in bits & pieces. lol Never take your health for granted!Without it many things are not possible.So I wish him the best and send my prayers for whatever ails him.

Oh come on, anyone could see the set was a little tight–in order to get a close-up of Prince, Band members and a dancer or two, in the screen shot, Prince would have to sit and be somewhat stationary.
I can’t imagine the potential asthetic nightmere if he’d moved around or danced — also those dancers seemed like they may have been add-ons ? — and without carefuly choreographed movements, they could hurt themselves or Prince.
You’ll notice after the dancers went away, he stood to play the guitar and had room to breath.
Princey, you looked sexy as usual.

And yes, the prop with all the hip rumors, certainly adds to that with it being more than just Prince not being able to dance or move about anymore.
Which is fine, I mean, we all age, not expecting Hot Thing SOTT Movie like mojo to be in full swing anymore.
But, stop hiding behind the shades, sleep, rest the bags, take some vitamins to build them muscles man. Once you went veggie, you lost a lot of muscle mass and that mojo that electrified your performances.
Drop the guitar at least once, we get it, you can play it great, you love playing it. Bring back the Cloud as the Hohner is boring the heck out of us.

Both versions of kiss were brilliant !!!
I must confess I don’t remember it all, there were so many great songs !!!
Unfortunatly I was in the VIP section so I wasn’t with the freaks and couldn’t c Prince much.
I remember at the first show, Prince saying several times : “Good Night Paris”, as we weren’t hot enough ????
Doing a show during the day was strange, but beautiful.

Dr.fb the comments that I’m about to make are not specfically directed to the “Prince prop” drama but the overall comments over the past several days. From the very first time I logged onto your website I got an “uplift”, good spirited, filled with truth and love….news brought to us about our favorite celebs. My heart was filled with joy. Today, when I read some of the comments that some folks make it becomes apparent how absent God is in their lives. Get to know God…knowing grows….and love simply expands to contain it…there will be no room for “negativity”….only L4OA. I wish that for everyone. We need God so badly.

I’m not religious, but my agnostic/humanistic self does respect people who are. I suggest you do the same the other way around and I am sure God would want it, he would agree with me that intolerance is the root of all evil.
Prince said he is happier than he has ever been and it shows! Smiles all around! Great performances in Paris. He has got it all! Music, beautiful girlfriend, love for God and he is lookin real good. If he is in pain…… its his business and everybody knows he always takes care of business. We love you Prince! Whatever your doing, keep doing it, you are shining bright!

I have to say that I’m getting really bored with the concept that he NEEDS the stool, the cane, whatever to stand and walk. I guess it’s all opinion, though, and mine is that he’s fine, in fantastic shape for his age, and taking it easier than he did 20 years ago…as he should. We DO seem to all agree that he still is fine as hell and playing as well or better than ever!!

Prince, I knew you didn’t need that stool except to look cool with it. Please tour America. It’s been 5 years since Musicology and I really wanted to go to Vegas to see you @ the Rio but couldn’t because my car with wallet and cell phone had been stolen and just when I got all that cleared up next came incredible pain in my jaw. I tried to manage with pain killers and it helped but the pain came back. I finally figured it must be a tooth although you couldn’t tell by looking in my mouth. Anyway, I needed a root canal and that meant several trips to the dentist. By the time I got through all of this, you were wrapping up Vegas–I was so sad. I would really love to meet you and nows a pretty good time. With this crazy economy, I can’t assure that later will be especially with a big Wal Mart under construction that will probably put other businesses out of business including mine. Alphabet St = yes and Shoe = your place lol luv ya and heres hoping you’ll do a more traditional tour in the USA. You might not think it’s as much fun, oh but it is. Thank you Prince and Thank you DocFB and to all the haters on the internet as Prince says no more candy 4 u.
We take a trip down Milky Way, we see the stars shooting frequently as we watch the galaxy , the planets revolving, suddenly comes this large discoball interfering with the order of the planets, we zoom into the disco ball, or peak thru a tiny peace of glass that has replaced a peace of mirror. We see Master Music, on a bar stool, or chaise long, whatever suits his funkyness, with shades on cut out saying ‘DA’ on the left eye and ‘n’ over the nose and ‘CE’ over the right eye. But like 7D(dimentional). Most likely with rhinestones and colors (?).
We see the floor is a round ying and yang symbol, that rotates, faster and faster and suddenly a a white pole arises from the white dot and a black pole arises from the black dot. Here comes to young beautiful ladies, one dark as the knight & one pale as the moon. dark in light lingerieish dress & light in dark lingerieish dress. Both of them work the poles like theirs no tomorrow, but in a natural sexy modern ballet type of way. Even acrobatic.
Master Music’s glasses also serve as camera, while he sings, everytime he blinks his beautiful lashes he snaps a still pic, and so he can frame the ying yang dancers whenever he feels like it.
And if the outside viewer aquires a pair of regular 3D glasses (have they invented 4D glasses yet ?) the viewer will see a whole bunch of other magic going on inside the disco ball, which off course cannot be revealed.
And finally after 4:59 minutes the large disco ball disappears into a purple hole, & the universe is like…….WHAT WAS THAT ???!!!

I totally agree with TRUTH. I just wish you(prince) would come clean & bring yourself to be totally honest about your obvious discomfort. Prince, I’ve followed your artistry since 1983, have been fortunate to have seen you in concert six times. I remember reading an article back in the 80’s saying that u had been warned about what would happen to u if u continued to perform in heels . Well it appears as though the heels have caught up with u. Just keep in mind , I will continue to follow your work, as I beleive that god has blessed u with great talent. U always talk about the truth, how bout being true to yourself & your fans. I think u would be much more appreciated for it. Although I don’t believe in your religeous beleifs, I believe u are entitled to them, but do not agree when u refer to the one true god . As though “my” god is not same god as yours. Prince, How are you doing? I hope fine. Some of these comments are pretty harsh for a man that brings alot of music and love to the world. I just wish I could of been there @ Paisley park on 10/24. Everybody saying what a great show. Less than 48 hours notice, geez Prince. Don’t you know I would have to do some butt kissing to get out of work? Calling in sick — lol — I didn’t even think of that one. My point is with such short notice, I got emotional and couldn’t think straight. Also, I’m frightened to know what a last minute flight to Minneapolis would be. I’m not money bags but I guess I could of swung it–somehow. I have one connection in Minnesota but again with such short notice it’s hard to arrange things. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. You can make it if you try. Well, I’d try harder if I had more time to make it happen. Here’s hoping you’ll do a regular tour in 2010 (ASAP). I can’t wait to see you. With LoVe
