Did Boyz II Men Get Caught Lip Synching?

Oh boy. This is NOT good. Boyz II Men performed “This Christmas” last night for an NBC Christmas special. That part went fine. Or so we thought.

After they performed, Charice and David Foster were supposed to perform…until the Boyz “This Christmas” backing track came in….with vocals!

It went on for almost a minute while Charice and Foster stood by dumbfounded.

I have seen Boyz II Men in concert and they do not need to lip synch. However, what the heck happened last night?

Check out the clip above and let me know what you think. Not good BIIM.-Dr.FB

Lip Synching? So what! I mean ,that’s what the majority of artists do anymore so what is the big deal. And most of them when they do actually sing live you almost wish they hadn’t! I don’t understand having an awards show where everyone is singing along to backup tracks.Besides it’s not like most of them are putting on an elaborate show or doin some serious choreography. Also it is known that the boys can sing… unlike many artists out today. They have paid their dues and have the talent to back it up.I just wish others would step up their game and REALLY PERFORM!

well said HERATIO. You could clearly see and hear that the lead vocals were live.

Those are what we refer to as “backing tracks”. They contain of course the instrumental and background parts. In this case there are only 2 singers singing background while the other sings leads. There are 3 part harmonies in the background (maybe more)…it is impossible for 2 people to sing 3 or more parts at the same time. Hence the backing tracks. Backing tracks are used often in live performances. If you ever notice a drummer wearing headphones…he’s playing to a click…to keep him and the band in sync with the track. I’ve seen the best of the best use this method.
