When I first saw the wire that Eddie Murphy was in talks to host the 2012 Academy Awards, I thought maybe it was 1989. Eddie hosting the award show in that purple jump suit would be interesting. But, this is serious. Eddie looks like he will be the Oscar host.
When Eddie was at the Oscars a few years ago, he did not even stay for the whole show after he found out he did not win for "Dreamgirls" and who could blame him? This time, though, he would have to stay for the whole show. The producer of the show is going to be Brett Ratner, who is making Eddie's latest movie with Ben Stiller "Tower Heist" opening by the end of the year.
One has to wonder if Eddie, who was one of the funniest stand-up comics in the 80's, still has the juice for now. Eddie's routine nowadays would get major flack for how he would go after gays and everybody.
It shows that Hollywood is forgiving, or at least has amnesia when it comes to talent.-Dr.FB
Diagnosis: I Got Some Ice Cream....N You Can't have None....
I am not sure what to think of this movie by the preview of "Tower Heist" above. It seems at first Ben Stiller is trying his hand at action movie starring Alan Alda. Then when Eddie Murphy enters it, it has to be a comedy...right? Although I am not sure where the laughs are to be yet.
The movie is directed by Bret Ratner so I know there will be some cool action scenes. I am just....wonderign about the comedy. Ben Stiller has had hit after hit movie and Eddie....has had hits with the Shrek movies recently.
I would like to see Eddie bounce back, I am not sure "Tower Heist" will be his bounce back film though. What do you think of the trailer?-Dr.FB
Diagnosis: Rush Hour Meets 48 Hours Without The Laughs?
So it seems a skit at the Oscars which was to feature Sacha Baron Cohen and Ben Stiller where they poke fun at Avatar is not going to happen.
This because the Academy does not want to upset James Cameron.
When asked about the skit last night, James Cameron said to go ahead and do the skit and he was not aware it had been cut.
One has to wonder if the Academy will change it's mind and let the skit stay now.
What do you think of the Academy even cancelling the skit in the first place?-Dr.FB
The Terminator has one movie to pass to make number 1 and it couldn't do it. What stood in Christian Bale's path? Ben Stiller.
It was a dismal Memorial Day Weekend and it is because there was no salvation for the Terminator. Grossing $53 million over the weekend and $67 million over 5 days, it was out performed in less days by Stiller's "Night At The Museum 2" pulling in $70 million in just 4 days.
A lot of people I know did not see the movie because there was no Ahhhhnold. If people thought Terminator opened up poorly, wait til June 5th to see "Land Of The Lost" bomb.-Dr.FB
"This year, for the first time ever, we entrusted you with the task of selecting the MTV Movie Awards nominees," MTV.com exclaims, "and...you did not disappoint!"
Twilight took the most nominations this year, including Best Picture, Best Breakthrough Performance (one for Robert Pattinson, one for Taylor Lautner), and Best Female Performance (Kristen Stewart), but in a surprise twist, the vampire baseball scene was somehow excluded from brand new category Best WTF Moment. Noms in that category went to Ben Stiller for sampling severed head in Tropic Thunder, Ayush Mahesh Khedekar for diving into doo-doo in Slumdog Millionaire, and Amy Poehler for peeing in the sink in Baby Mama.
Voting begins today in all categories on the MTV website here, and the winners will be announced at the live broadcast 9pm EST / 6pm PST on May 31. The show will be hosted by Andy Samberg.
Here is the video of Ben Stiller being Jo Pho aka Joaquin Phoenix. I made up the Jo Pho for Joaquin Phoenix "rap" name. Just want to make sure you know where it came from. Now, enjoy the clip.-Dr.FB
