Kobe Bryant was still on the bench last night as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Golden State Warriors and they still won their 4th in a row.

Kobe did land on the cover of GQ magazine, bandaged finger and all and was pretty candid about Shaquille O’Neil in the interview.

“The biggest mistake I made was responding to what he was saying about me,” Kobe tells the mag about his relationship with Shaq. “Once I responded, now that made it seem like I was part of that whole thing. It’s like, Okay, these two are against each other. As opposed to just staying quiet, which is what I’ve been doing the last few years. Let him say what he needs to say.”
Back to Shaq again.  Hmm.  We wonder if it might be Lakers versus Cavs in the finals this year.  Kobe and Lamar against Lebron n Shaq.

Sports Boxers & Briefs

Posted in Entertainment, Sports on October 7th, 2009 by drfunkenberry

A day after the Metrodome was rocked by Favre-Mania, the Twins took it to the next level beating the Detroit Tigers in a 12 inning game to remember. Detroit was up by 7 games with a month to go but could not stop losing and the Twins couldn’t stop winning, forcing the 1 game playoff. The Twins reward? They get to play the Yankees tonight…..

The Dodgers play the Cards in round 1 of the playoffs and the Cards usually give the Dodgers problems. Can they change history?…….

Breaking NFL news….Michael Crabtree, who was the no. 1 draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers, is ready to sign with the team after holding out. Wonder if it has anything to do with them being 3-1?……

Braylon Edwards is about to be traded from the Cleveland Browns to the New York Jets. Edwards has been having on-field problems and off-field problems, reportedly getting into a fight with a friend of Lebron James at a Cleveland nightclub.  Interestingly enough, I wonder if this time next year Lebron will be in New York as well?……I’m not saying, I’m just sayin’.-Dr.FB

With Trevor Ariza most likely going to the Rockets or the Cavs, the Lakers made a bold move and are about to sign Ron Artest for 3  years/$ 18 million dollars.

Shaq is now a Cav and promises to get the King A Ring.  We will see if Lebron gets one.

Unhappy to see Ariza go.  Artest is a great defender but what he comes with could be deadly.  Oh well.  Under Phil Jackson, Rodman bloomed into a flower with less trouble.  Maybe this could just work.-Dr.FB

Unreal.  ESPN broke news that Shaqulle O’Neil was traded to the Cleveland Caveliers.  He didn’t find out thru ESPN. Someone Twittered him he had been traded.

His response;”I didn’t hear that yet.”  He then found out it was true. Earlier this month, it was Twittered that Kevin McCale would not be kept by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Shaq to Cleveland makes them now the preseason favorites.  Lebron James & Shaq? Oh boy.-Dr.FB

NBA Finals; Kobe In, LeBron Out

Kobe Bryant kept up his part of the deal, making the NBA & Nike very happy.  LeBron….not so much.

LeBron did not have 2 more Le Shot’s in him and his Cavs were eliminated last night from the playoffs by the Orlando Magic, who will face Kobe’s Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday.

Will Nike have a commercial with the LeBron doll watching a video of Kobe with the casing saying, “LeBron, see how it’s done.” I was saying they should have made a Dwight Howard doll.-Dr.FB

King James finished with 109 of the possible 121 first place votes.  He had the ceremony held in his high school gymnasium.  Lebron said “This is a place where all my dreams started and where I thought they could become real, “There’s really not a better place.”

Lebron and the Cleveland Cavaliers will take care of play the Atlanta Hawks starting Tuesday in the 1nd round of the playoffs.

Congrats to Lebron.-Dr.FB

Bulls Versus Celtics & NBA Playoff Round-Up

The Cavs moved on.  The Lakers moved on.  The rest…well, it’s kind of weird.

I did say that the Mavs would beat San Antonio.  I just did not know they would dismantle them.  Denver laying the smackdown on the Hornets by 58. The Hornets say it’s just one game.  True, but only one team won a series after getting beat that bad.  They got beat so bad, Chris Brown took credit for it.

These playoffs have been exciting by teams thinking they could sleep walk thru a series.  Yes, Orlando and Miami, I am talking about you.  Orlando will & has recovered, Miami will not.  Houston is about to eliminate Portland and move out of the first round without you know who, who can’t get out of a first round.

The most exciting series hands down has been the Boston Celtics versus the Chicago Bulls.  3 over times in 3 games?  Seriously?  Another one last night that went the Celtics way with Ray Allen fouled out, Garnett in street clothes and Powe out for the season.  This series was the most exciting.  The Bulls may force a game 7 with a win on Thursday, but you are not beating Boston in a game 7 at the Garden.  Not. Gonna. Happen.  Not even Jordan did it.

As the Lakers and Cavs sit and wait, I will make this second round prediction; The Mavs will beat the Nuggets in the 2nd round to face the Lakers after L.A. knocks off the Rockets.  Take it to Vegas baby.-Dr.FB
