Metallica and Comic-Con? Seriously?
Picturehouse announced today the iconic band, Metallica, will appear for the first time ever at Comic-Con in San Diego with a special live performance and Hall H Panel on Friday, July 19 in support of the groundbreaking 3D feature film, "Metallica Through The Never".
The band will perform an intimate private concert at a secret location in San Diego. The film's 6:30 p.m. Hall H panel includes all four members of Metallica: James Hetfield (vocals, guitar), Lars Ulrich (drums), Kirk Hammett (guitar, background vocals) Robert Trujillo (bass, background vocals); along with actor Dane DeHaan (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), director/writer Nimród Antal (Predators, Kontroll) and producer Charlotte Huggins (Journey to the Center of the Earth).
The Hall H presentation will world premiere the "Metallica Through the Never" theatrical trailer and poster, show exclusive preview footage and discuss the making of the film. Only during the Hall H panel will Comic-con conventioneers in attendance have an opportunity to win tickets and learn the location where Metallica will play later that same evening. Also, the event launches advance ticket sales for the September 27, 2013 opening of the film available online at www.fandango.com.
It made a big splash when the Military advised when torturing prisoners during interrogations, they played Metallica's music to soften them up. There was a report going around that the band was upset with their music being used. Not true.
The band has officially made a statement about their music being used and it seems they don't care either way.
Here is the official statement:
"There has been a lot of talk recently about us asking the military not to use our music to "soften people up before interrogation". We NEVER commented to the military either way on this matter. Any statements that have been made otherwise are not correct."
So Metallica isn't tripping on their music being used. End of story. All along we thought they were using Barry Manilow's music instead.-DocFB
Diagnosis: No one was interrogated during this post.
Sunny days? Not if you were a prisoner in Guantanamo Bay!
It is being revealed that Sesame Street was used as torture to prisoners at the facility. This is according to a new documentary released by Al Jazeera.
The documentary entitled "Songs of War" stats that prisoners would have headphones put on them blasting Sesame Street songs for hours on end.
Award-winning Sesame Street composer Christopher Cerf tells Al Jazeera, "My first reaction was this just can't possibly be true ..."
"Of course I didn't really like the idea that I was helping break down prisoners, but it was much worse when I heard later that they were actually using the music in Guantanamo to do deep, long-term interrogations and obviously to inflict enough pain on prisoners so they would talk."
In 2008, it was revealed the prison would use Metallica songs to torture the prisoners. We wonder if Lars Ulrich and Big Bird have hung out since.
What would you use for torture music; Metallica or Sesame Street?-DocFB

I got this tip through my cell Saturday afternoon: "Amy Winehouse is serving pints behind bar at Hawley Arms right now!" I did request pics but they were afraid Amy might go after them and start a fight, so they just decided to enjoy their pints and be amazed by what happened. I can't blame them. How cool is that though to show up at a bar and a celeb is behind serving them to you?........

So after days of it being talked about and after pulling all Warner Bros. videos from youtube 9 months ago, Warner Music has struck a deal with youtube.
No word on how this will effect videos by Madonna and Metallica, Warner Bros. artists. It was stupid for labels and artists to go after youtube. It's great they are getting paid but it's promotion. We don't watch videos on whack-ass MTV anymore. With youtube getting close to actually getting on television, it makes sense for labels to latch on to something that will handle advertising for them.
Here is more on the deal. Do you still watch MTV for music videos or do you turn to blog sites such as the esteemed Dr.Funkenberry & YouTube?-Dr.FB

Warner Bros. is celebrating it's 50th Anniversary with this video montage of the amazing artists who have worked for the WB.
With the way the Internet has changed the music game, it will be a miracle if they make it to see a 60th Anniversary. (So, ahem, can they get the master's back before then?)
Who was the first artist to kick off the video montage of Warner's greatest artists? Watch and find out, but you really shouldn't be surprised.
Blink and you'll miss Madonna. Hehe.-Dr.FB
Update: as of 12/22/02, Warner Bros. have removed ALL videos from youtube. It was the label's decision and not one particular artist.-Dr.FB
Run D.M.C., Metallica, The Stooges, Jeff Beck, Wanda Jackson, Little Anthony and the Imperials, War, Bobby Womack, and Chic are the 9 hopefuls to get into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Only 5 will get in.

The ceremony will be returning to Cleveland and leaving New York behind. For the first time ever, fans will be able to buy tickets to the event. -Dr.FB
