We got word today of a new art show opening in San Francisco on December 9th. "Art of Prince" will feature works by Anthony Malzone, whose designs have been featured extensively on Prince's website, as well as the poster for Prince's August 2009 show in Monaco.

All of the prints in the show are limited-edition, numbered and signed by the artist. The show will be at the San Francisco Art Exchange in Union Square.

Review: The Prince Of Monaco

Prince Of Monaco

At first look, the seating arrangements and standard of dress left one wondering whether concertgoers would know they were about to get hit by the groove train, or if they would sit through it all as if in a chichi, Muzak-infused dining car/banquet hall. Thankfully everyone, even dressed to the nines, tens and elevens, was aboard for the musical melange from the moment Prince and the band (Renato Neto, Rhonda Smith, John Blackwell, Morris Hayes and harmonicist Frederic Yonnet) set in motion.

Prince took (or more accurately owned) the stage in a purple and gold ensemble befitting of (musical) royalty at this black-tie affair, showing concertgoers what a Prince in Monaco can do -- tear things up, avec joie et grace! He started the show off with Purple Rain, much to our surprise, and from there moved on to When Eye Lay My Hands on U and a steamy, slowed-down version of Little Red Corvette that's sure to become a favorite.

A mirror ball dropped down for the opening notes of Somewhere Here on Earth, creating a mood well-suited to the room. After that the band rocked things out a bit on Cream, with Yonnet jumping in on the action. Miss You (the Stones classic) turned into a singalong, dancealong funky jam, with Yonnet soloing through Prince's mic. The crowd ate it up.

Later in the set they romped through 1999, turning the hall into dance club once again. Prince guided them through a an extended improvised version of Controversy, working the crowd with Housequake callouts and playful chants about Monaco.

For the dinner party's encore, of course came the dessert, the jam not to be topped this night, la vie du partie -- A Love Bizarre. By the end of the song, many well-heeled folks were onstage, getting their groove on. As if the jam wasn't funky enough on its own, Prince and the band broke it down to just the beat and dropped in some licks from Love Rollercoaster, whipped in a little Sexy Dancer and added a dash vocals from Dance 4 Me. Cool Whip couldn't top this!

Nothing Compares 2 U closed out the night, many of the dancers still onstage circling Prince as he crooned his much-loved classic. This has been a night and a week those in Monte Carlo will not soon forget. Even with the summer music festival drawing near it's close, event staff enjoyed this as if they'd never been to a concert. Perhaps they'd experienced their Prince in Monaco many times, but never like this. Bon nuit!

Prince is about to throw a mutiny overseas. Not only is he about to do 3 shows in Monaco, 2 in 1 night August 13th and 1 August 16th, respectively, but he has bigger plans in the mix.

We have learned exclusively that Prince's next single will be "Dance 4 me" and there is going to be a major push in Europe.  We hear there also be will be a remix to "Dance 4 Me" as well. Oh heaven yes! With the push overseas, could that mean some moreconcert dates over there? We are hearing rumors but nothing concrete.

I also heard something about his latest cd Lotusflow3r which was released in the States via Target WILL be getting a release overseas as well. Speculation right now but just keeping you locked in to all things paisley.  (Note: I was told Because Music was going to release it September 7th but I forgot about that.)

.

You know when I have further info, I will let you know. Until then, just pick up them maracas n shake!-Dr.FB

UPDATE: Forgot to add no word yet on a "Dance 4 Me" video. Will let you if I hear anything.

UPDATE: It seems the WMA's are just TRYING to bring attention to themselves so file this under FALSE rumor.

According to the World Music Awards, they are letting it be known they are in talks with Prince to do a tribute performance to Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson will be accepting an award on her brother's behalf.

We have not heard anything on our end about Prince performing at the Award show, let alone doing a tribute to Michael Jackson.  The award show is not taped until October but is taped in Monaco where Prince is slated to perform next week.

Is the World Music Awards that big? Surprised the MTV Awards, American Music Awards or Grammys have not been trying to get Prince to perform a tribute on their shows.  MTV will most likely tap Chris Brown to do it.

We will let you know if we hear anything about this Purple Rumor.-Dr.FB
