So, I have been gone for a while, but I am back this week with another American Idol review. In my absence, we have seen a lot of people leave, and we are now down to the top 4. Too bad I haven’t been around, because there were some things I would have loved to talk about, but unfortunately, I was not. That’s all old news, we are here for tonight’s show, where the top 4 do Rock Week.  I’m telling you now, if Adam doesn’t nail this week, then I don’t know what I will think. To make things a little more interesting, they are also performing duets. Again, I don’t know if this is because of me, but last year I also suggested this idea as a way to change things around. This week’s mentor is probably one of the best options to teach these kids rock. The mentor this week is Slash. Most kids these days may know him from Velvet Revolver, but the best of us will only see him as the lead guitarist for Guns and Roses. I gotta say off the bad, I don’t think Slash has aged in the last 20 years. Now it’s time to see how they did.

Up first is Adam singing “Whole Lotta Love” from Led Zeppelin. Right off the bat, I want to know where he got that jacket.  That @%$# is tight. As for the performance, this was absolutely his week. Not only did he nail it, he held true to the spirit of the song. Not to mention, he showed great honor to Zeppelin in that performance. One final word, I have to agree with Simon that no one will be able to top that.

Then we have Allison singing “Cry Baby” from Janis Joplin. Now, in the last few weeks of not being here, I have been hating on this girl. I wanted her to leave so bad, but I gotta be honest. I thought she did better this week. Wasn’t great, but I thought she did better than she’s been in the last few weeks. I still think she is going to be leaving very soon, but I was a bit more impressed with that performance than any of the others.

The first duet of the evening is Danny and Kris singing “Renegade” from Stix. I thought they did a great job together. I thought the individual parts were a bit sub-par, but when they were singing in harmony, they were rocking it out.

Kris does his solo next with “Come Together” from The Beetles. I have talked about in the past how much I do not like the Beetles. Mainly during Beetles week last year. With that said, I thought he did a good job with it. He is an all around performer, and he shows it every week. Not his greatest performance, but I still think it was better than Allison. However, the judges hated him, so that may affect him making it to the next round.

Closing out the solo performances is Danny with “Dream On” from Aerosmith. It official, the final two this year, unless America screws up, are Adam and Danny. That was awesome. I thought he handled it very well. I thought he vocalized the end of the song perfectly. As we know, he is not a rocker, but damn did he rock it out. Again though, the judges hated him, so how will that affect his chances to make it?

Closing the show tonight is Allison and Adam doing their duet of “Slow Ride” from Foghat. That is by far one of my favorite songs ever, and they rocked it out hard core. That song has given me a new respect for Allison. If she could do more like that, then she will be one of the greatest ever.

I think tonight, it is obvious who is in the bottom two, but to satisfy the requirement, I think Adam is guaranteed safe. I think Danny should be safe too. I think that it could go either way with Allison and Kris, however I think it should be Allison to go home. I will say ending the night with the duet between Allison and Adam may save her skin for one more week. I guess we can only wait and see tomorrow.

Ok, so I haven’t followed Idol at all so I’m unbias..did my best to check out the remaining 4, but there’s little footage on the web.

    It’s all about KRIS ALLEN.

They all have nice voices, but Allison isn’t exceptional, the white rock chick thing has been done and she can’t compete with Pink
Adam is positively plastic, very high school musical/caberet
    Gokey guy is too wooden

    Good luck Kris!
