Wow. PRINCE and the NPG are in rehearsal for the Welcome 2 Australia tour!!! Ticket sales are BLAZING. What started as 3 shows is now up to 6. Australia, how many shows can U handle?
To begin every week of rehearsal, to get the rust off, PRINCE and the band jam one song for 30-45 minutes.
“The Dance Electric” in its original form with vocals will be one of the featured encore songs for the Welcome 2 Australia tour.

Okay. First off…trust…Prince ain’t gonna stop even if he rightfully stops doing cover songs. When 95% of people go to see Prince LIVE, they go expecting to hear him play HIS music. Covers? I spoke with a long time band member of Prince’s just tonight over dinner (who’s name will go unmentioned) and this band member agreed that up to the Lovesexy tour, Prince just did NOT do covers, ESPECIALLY like he does now. Baffling to both of us why Prince does ssssoooo many of them now.
And, like it or NOT, Larry Graham is the MAIN reason why Prince became a Jehovah’s Witness. Around the time Prince and Larry REALLY met (96/97) Prince was at a low point. A very low point. Not only was his marriage to Mayte in a slow downward spiral, but the reasons behind it were monumental…the death of their baby boy from a rare disorder as well as other personal issues between them that I won’t mention here caused him a great deal of grief and turmoil, which in turn caused him to feel more lost than ever. This was a time musically when he was cursing more, listening to lots of rap and hip/hop and just going down a darker musical road than before. I’m sure spiritually because of the loss of his son and other personal demons, it gave him pause and while he indulged in the flesh of others in a carnal sense to help distract him, it was LARRY and Larry’s wife that came into his life and through DEEP spiritual and religious studies, caused Prince’s turn to Jehovah’s Witness…to the point that he even changed lyrics to songs, like “Gett Off”: “23 positions in a one night stand” to “23 scriptures in a one night stand”.
I could go on but I’ve written enough. Larry saved Prince from himself, his insecurities, his anger and his feeling of helplessness, spiritually, emotionally, personally and professionally. And, while I don’t agree with Prince’s decision to become a Jehovah’s Witness because I think it weakens him, I understand why he would do it. To me though, I had thought him strong enough to not go down ANY specific religious road as he had been so diligent, so strong, so perfect and so focused on his musicology, path, career, destiny. To this day, I’m still sad about his redirection by Larry. Prince? God made. Jehovah’s Witness? Man made.

Posted at 01:09h, 19 AprilI’m not sure how many of the people commenting here are actually going to be in attendance of the Australian concerts, probably only a small majority. I’ll be going to the Sydney shows so here are my thoughts.
I’m not really one for Prince doing covers but he could do the following:
INXS’s Suicide blonde (intro, letting it ride out and taking the chicken scratching to a whole new level) —- > segueing into Peach and a verse and back to INX’s Suicide Blonde as the chorus. Minds will be BLOWN!
Getting covers out of the way I think in some form some rare gems should be played that have not been played before:
– Shockadelica (Not as part of sampler, but a 2012 rendition with some ripping drums!)
– Love or $
– Databank (“Teacher got a guitar”.. let the guitar rip!!)
– Wonderful Ass (Can you imagine Prince and Andy Allo on the vocals? He wouldn’t be lying either 😉 )
– Rockhard In A Funky Place
– Lady Cab Driver (The chicken scratch.. please!!)
– All Day, All Night (This is long overdue for a performance)
– Erotic City (nuff said!)
And to replace the current run of Time songs getting played:
– Chocolate & Jerk Out….. Too funky!
