Model, dancer, blogger, NBA expert, official prank caller Damaris Lewis was doing a radio interview with Australia where she called PRINCE and woke him up for a live interview.
She couldn't prank Prince who is the ultimate prankster but it did make for interesting radio. "Victoria" may not know as much about the NBA as Damaris but she did get the Purple One to talk.
Prince talked about the NBA playoffs where he said "Dwayne Wade is his favorite player, but his favorite team is the Oklahoma City Thunder." Damaris, a big-time Thunder fan said she may have to battle Prince during "The Dance Electric" at tonight's show regarding the Dwayne Wade comment. Hmm. Someone got a hoop and a basketball to set up?
If he would have said Lebron (Lebum) James, I don't know what I would have done.
They were clowning each other and even brought up Prince's symbol stage looking like a spaceship. Prince stated that this is his favorite tour to date. Not a surprise to us as Prince likes to live in the now and not the past. We get that.
These shows do sound rather amazing.
Check out the fun interview above and let us know what you think.-DocFB
With only 1 show left in Australia, Prince performed 2 shows since his last main concert in Brisbane, one an afterjam that we hear was quite epic, and a 2nd secret show.
At the Brisbane afterjam, PRINCE & The NPG performed a funk-infused version of "Mutiny" with versions of "Insatiable", "Scandalous" and a full version of "Adore" thrown in. If that wasn't enough, he also performed "$", "Song Of The Heart" and "Days Of Wild" for good measure. That does not even include him performing "She's Always In My Hair" at the main show.
Then, Monday night, PRINCE performed a secret club show in Melbourne. You either got DJ Rashida's Tweet about the show or were there as we are told only 70 to 80 people were in attendance for the show. Looking at the set list, Prince performed "Love 2 The 9's" "An Honest Man", "Tambourine" "Sexy Dancer" "Strange Relationship" a cover of "Oustanding" and "Rude Boy" performed by NPG singer Shelby J.
His 8th and final "Welcome 2 Australia" concert is May 30th. No Afterjam has been announced yet and we know the people who missed the secret show and afterjam (for shame) are hoping for 1 more afterjam so that won't have to live with regret til PRINCE & The NPG come back to Australia again.
These shows sound amazing and a LOT of fun. Let's hope there is more to DJ Rashida's tweet about a soundboard recording of the Brisbane afterjam somehow getting out.-DocFB
PRINCE took over The Ivy, a club in Sydney, Australia where he performed into the wee hours of the morning with special guests Flavor Flav of Public Enemy and rocker Seal. You know when it comes to Prince, he is never done, and during the Welcome 2 Australia tour, he is proving it yet again.
Prince then performed in Melbourne and at the second show bringing out Flavor Flav again to rap "911 Is A Joke" and then later on, the leader of Public Enemy, Chuck D.
Chuck D. was tweeting during the show and after taking the stage with Prince that there is no one better in music now or then, than Prince. We couldn't agree more.
At the aftershow and the previous 2 concerts, Prince has performed a slowed down bluesy version of "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man" a little bit of "Pheromone" a groove of "Dance Electric" and a long, sweaty, funky version of "Days Of Wild" that left concert goers with their mouths dropped.
It shows that Prince may just have been looking at the songs you were requesting here.
The band gets a 2 day break...well, already one day has passed, til they take over Brisbane and give them a good funkin.-DocFB
Wow. PRINCE and the NPG are in rehearsal for the Welcome 2 Australia tour!!! Ticket sales are BLAZING. What started as 3 shows is now up to 6. Australia, how many shows can U handle?
To begin every week of rehearsal, to get the rust off, PRINCE and the band jam one song for 30-45 minutes.
"The Dance Electric" in its original form with vocals will be one of the featured encore songs for the Welcome 2 Australia tour.
Get ready to DANCE!!!
P.S. PRINCE and the band are currently taking requests for desired tunes for the setlist.
So......what do U all want to hear???-DocFB
Some people thought it was photoshopped and were tripping on Prince's 'Fro and physique. Some felt a touch of the 80's cult classic "The Last Dragon" with sword in hand. "Everybody was kung-fu fighting." Ahem. Sorry, couldn't help it.
Regardless, I am digging that EXTRALOVEABLE arm band. Make sure to pick one up at the merch booth in Australia...along with the tour book. Shameless plug. (If you get an extra, you can always send one my way. Grin.)
You can download a full resolution of the pic HERE. thanks to Prince and his team for sending in the image.
We are working on a higher resolution image and will get it up shortly. Interestingly enough, the image shape will look good for your cover photo's for your Facebook timelines. Hmm. Imagine that.
What do you guys think of the tour book cover? Australia, are you ready?-DocFB

The dates so far are Sydney at the Allphones Arena on May 11th , then in Melbourne May 14th at the Rod Laver Arena and then in Brisbane May 18that the Entertainment Centre. Although not confirmed, we have a feeling multiple shows will happen.
You have to give it up to the promoter for making this happen. We have been waiting for official confirmation for WEEKS and sometimes, that is not easy. I apologize for my delay but wanted to be extremely accurate and as you can see, we were able to get a 2nd date added for our patience.
Regardless, Australia is about to get rocked and funked up big time. It has been almost 10 years since Prince's last appearance in Australia and 21 years since he performed his first concert to amazing reviews.
You can't have a Prince tour without a few surprises. A Prince concert is not just a concert. It is an event. After his phenomenal Super Bowl Performance in 2007, Prince is the must see concert at the top of your bucket list.
