Sofia Vergara and her “Modern Family” co-star Ty Burrell took in the Lakers game last night as they whooped on the Pacers 122-99.

During the game, the Kiss Cam landed on them and Sofia was game and Ty…well, he looked like it was Mickey Rourke trying to give him a kiss.

Hmm.  Is Ty married?  If that was me and Sofia grabbed me by the face like that, we most likely would be still locking lips…or bumping something.  What?  Don’t act like you wouldn’t either!-Dr.FB

P.S. “Modern Family” airs on ABC Wednesdays.

Dios Mio! Ugly Betty Cancelled

Posted in Television on January 27th, 2010 by drfunkencherry

Ugly Betty

ABC confirmed to Access Hollywood today that they have cancelled the hour-long comedy, Ugly Betty. It first aired in 2006 on Thursday nights before Grey’s Anatomy. Since then, ABC has shuffled it around to Friday and more recently, to Wednesday night.

The star, America Ferrera, won a Golden Globe for her role as Betty, a style-challenged assistant at a high fashion magazine who never fails to flash her broad, brace-face smile.

Betty personifies the “be yourself” motto for primetime TV. More importantly, now who is going to get Daniel Mead out of his jams???

The last episode will air this spring. Am I the only one sad about this?-Dr.FB

Jay Leno Weighs In On Conan & The Tonight Show

Posted in Celebrity Gossip, Celebrity News, Entertainment, Television on January 18th, 2010 by drfunkenberry

Jay Leno took to his monologue of today’s “The Jay Leno” show to address a few things.  The talk show host did not make any wisecracks about Conan but addressed the situation.

According to TMZ, Jay addressed how in 2004 NBC approached him about having Conan take over The Tonight Show  in 2009 because Conan was going to bolt to ABC or Fox, as he was getting contract offers.  Jay tried to argue, saying he was number 1 in the ratings.  NBC told say flat out: you won’t be able to maintain number 1.

Jay agreed to it then and out of that hatched “The Jay Leno Show” where NBC thought he would thrive in the summer, but never even made it to summer.

Jay thought that Conan would not mind moving a half-hour later to make room for Jay and the reason he thought that was that NBC thought that.  Their report said that Jay said not to blame Conan and called him a really nice guy and a gentleman.

Straight up: NBC knew Conan would not be happy moving a half-hour back so NBC is lying and Jay may be lying as well.

We will have his monologue up later tonight.  What do you think of what Jay said about the situation?-Dr.FB

ABC Returns To “Modern” Era With Smart Decisions

ABC has renewed “The Middle”, “Modern Family”, and “Cougartown” for a 2nd season.  All shows debuted this year and were picked up for a full season just weeks ago.

“Ugly Betty” which now follows those shows, has not been picked up yet.  They are hoping people tune into the show Wed. nights as it follows all the comedies that were picked up.  I think that show is on it’s last legs.

Congrats to ABC for getting it right and picking up all 3 shows for a second season.-Dr.FB

Time Warner Cable Dropping Fox Shows?

I don’t know about you but for the last 2 weeks, my local Fox networks have been airing commercials that starting New Years, Time Warner Cable will be dropping all Fox network shows.

Fox wants to start charging for it’s local channels, which in Los Angeles, they have 2 and it would add up to about a $1.00 per month per cable subscriber.  Time Warner had a battle with Nickelodeon in 2008 and was settled after the deadline.  About 10 years ago, ABC and Time Warner got into it where Time Warner did pull ABC and ABC affiliated networks.

Time Warner has struck deals with everyone in the past but the NFL Network and in some way, this Fox deal has a lot to do with the NFL on Fox.

Fox owns DirecTV, which earlier this year renewed with the NFL to carry the games only on DirecTV.  This makes the 3rd time this decade that before the deal was over, it was extended to where Time Warner and other cable companies could not bid to get the NFL package.   This could be Time Warner not budging just in spite.

It makes Fox look greedy and no one in this economy is going to side with Fox if they knew what it was about.  But they don’t, which most likely has a lot of people signing up to keep Fox on Time Warner.

I am sure a deal will be in place before American Idol debuts it’s new season on Fox in mid-Janaury.  However, the bowl games and the NFL game that is expected to go to 80 percent of the nation this Sunday where the Philadelphia Eagles travel to play the Dallas Cowboys with the division and playoff positions are on the line, you just may not get.

The contract expires Thursday.  Whose side do you take on this; Fox or Time Warner?-Dr.FB

ABC Lifts Ban On Lambert; Will Appear On “The View”

The ban from ABC of Adam Lambert appears to be lifted. Well, at least for one performance.  The American Idol contestant will appear on “The View” on December 10th.

He will do an interview and a performance on the talk show.  I have a feeling ABC wants a public apology from him on their own network.  I am sure he will get it but I still don’t think it will change him not being on Jimmy Kimmel or ABC’s new years Rockin Eve with Dick Clark.

What do you think of ABC’s about face on letting him back on the network?  Glambert?  More like Lamebert lately.-Dr.FB

More Adam Lambert TV Appearances Cancelled

The “backlash” over Adam Lambert’s American Music Award performance continue. ABC has pulled him from their New Years Eve special and Jimmy Kimmel.

Adam says he is not mad at the network or Kimmel and says it is due to FCC pressure.  Adam will be performing on Leno later this month so obviously, NBC is either not feeling the pressure or is just not bucking down.

Maybe in hindsight, it wasn’t the smartest thing to pull what he pulled at the AMA’s.  It now seems the FCC has it’s new posterboy for wardrobe malfunctions by going after performers who go “off script” as they are calling it.

ABC will now have artists sign contracts they will stick to what they do during rehearsal. I champion artistic expression and this seems lame. It proves all it takes is one person to change things for everyone.  Sometimes, not the result everyone wanted.-Dr.FB
