Taylor Berrett will be releasing his debut album, Great Falls, on March 10, 2015. The album embodies songwriting at its finest, with great artists like Paul Simon and Billy Joel as inspiration and Taylor's uniquely fun, uplifting, and poignant style at the heart.
The 22 year old from Virginia has always loved songs, and realized at an early age that he was desperate to follow in the footsteps of songwriters such as Stevie Wonder, the Elton John/Bernie Taupin team, and Chris Martin. As a teenager, Taylor was signed to the production company of SRP with Carl Sturken and Evan Rogers (best known for signing and developing Rihanna). From there, he further developed his craft and was led to iconic songwriter Kara Dioguardi. Kara signed Taylor to her publishing company and brought him to Warner Bros. Records, bringing it full circle at the home of many classic artists, including Taylor's favorite, Paul Simon.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Berrett was signed to a contract after one showcase performance.
California singer-songwriter Jenny Lewis has debuted her new single, "Just One Of The Guys," on NPR's "All Songs Considered" today. The track is taken from her forthcoming album The Voyager, which will be released by Warner Bros. Records on July 29th.
The album is now available for pre-order today from all participating digital retailers. Those who pre-order will receive an instant download of "Just One Of The Guys."
"Just One Of The Guys" was produced by Beck, who also contributes backing vocals. "It was one of the tunes I'd tried a few different ways before I finally recorded it with Beck at his home studio in Malibu," Lewis says. "The whole experience was super laid-back - walking on the beach, talking about movies, the Rolling Stones, and French pop music. It was just very mellow and lovely."
Beck is one of several artists Lewis chose to produce tracks on The Voyager, which also features production from Ryan Adams, alongside Mike Viola, as well as her longtime collaborator, Johnathan Rice. The Voyager is the former Rilo Kiley frontwoman's third solo album and first in six years, following 2006's Rabbit Fur Coat (with The Watson Twins) and 2008's Acid Tongue. It finds the always relatable songwriter at her sharp-witted best, singing about her recent experiences with honesty and incisiveness.
Arielle (mentored by Queen Guitarist, Brian May) released her debut official video for "California."
The video features Arielle visiting some of the 31st state's most beautiful scenery (including the light-laced City of Angels) while singing that she "can't find the sunshine in California." "I didn’t fit in," says Arielle of the feeling she had growing up and later, trying to find her footing in music. Her self-titled EP (set for release on April 29th, 2014 on Open E Music) is the sound of claiming her place – creatively, emotionally, and existentially.
Yet the New Jersey native has lived in California for most of her life, singing since age five (with the prestigious San Francisco Bay Area Peninsula Girls Chorus) and then learning the piano, trumpet and at age 10, guitar.
By 16, she’d become a rock-guitar virtuoso (even earning the attention of her childhood idol, Queen guitarist Brian May,) before being “discovered” by guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. (Extreme, Rihanna.) Soon after, Arielle landed in the studio of Red Decibel Music Group (Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato and Switchfoot) and met with producer/co-writers Adam Watts, Andy Dodd and Gannin Arnold.-DocFB
Diagnosis: Arielle is also vamping up for a special performance at the 17th Annual Triple A Sunset Session in Solana Beach, CA at Belly Up on February 22nd (Sold Out) and recently performed at The Hotel Café and The House of Blues Foundation Room in Los Angeles, CA. Tripp Weir and Jeff Garrison are GIMM+ICKY and they have scored TV placements on networks like ABC, E!, Nickelodeon, and the NFL Network in just over a year.
“We met up on a Monday with the concept, were immediately on the same page, nailed down the direction of our sound, wrote several choruses, and a day later were asked to sit in at a writers night,” recalls Weir of how the duo got together. “There was immediate response, which of course added fuel to the fire.”
