“When people surrender their expectations of what they were expecting, they will enjoy it more.”

I don’t know from where that line of sophomoric logic emanates, but it is stupid enough for me to ignore this song.

I like this song a lot. Congrats to Liv and that is great that Prince is giving his band members to shine. I think 3rdEyeGirl should be on the road with Prince but Prince & NPG is where its at. I wouldn’t mind seeing more from Liv. I think she should another album. No offense to the other girls, but she has a beautiful tone and seems likeable.

Is Jester the new Shelby? I hope he gets invited to Paisley Park soon for a live show.

I like the music, which is written by Prince.

However, I don’t particularly appreciate the lyrics written by Liv Warfield. They are clunky and embarassing in places and detract from my enjoyment of the song.

I’ve loved and purchased all the other 3rdeyegirl content, but I’ll be avoiding this. It’s an average pop/rock song that seems aimed at the teen market.

I hope the rest of the 3rdeyegirl project (there are reportedly 14 songs already recorded) is more like ‘Screwdriver’ and less like ‘LOL’.

As aforementioned, I’ve felt very positive and grateful for all the material available on 3rdeyegirl up until now. However, ‘LOL’ is a direction I’m not at all interested in or excited by.

Thanks for adding the song info, Doc. That’s the one thing I always miss when not having a CD … the info on who plays what instrument and who wrote the song. While it does not spoil my listening pleasure if I don’t know, I still prefer having this info. So I appreciate it very much!

Now we know that this song is a great collaboration … and rather unusual among the recent Prince material – lyrics written by Liv, music by Prince, and the girls on lead vocals – I like the result very much! This is a song that would grab my attention if heard on the radio without knowing who it comes from. 🙂

I’m confused Jester gave the file away for free so why put it on 3rdeyegirl.com and charge $0.88?

Another great track with a beautiful and uplifting message.
I always wonder about all the “experts” on prince.org who’d done this track so much better than Prince.

thanks doc for sharing the song. couldn’t get it from jester. wow lucky guy. i finally get to hear something. don’t know how to download. will have to go to best buy. for the song a lot of fun & different. this song belongs here in los angeles on the world famous KROQ radio & beating the guys. oh so 80’s when we had go’s go’s, bangles etc. one to chase the guy bands. that’s why i was watching the grammy’s before prince was to be on. love the alternative music & glad on nominations. PRINCE tour with girls it will be so much fun. you robbed us of the REBELS. still have hope. prince can do 2 tours, 1 with the girls & the other with bigger band, though horns do drown out & sometimes singers. love the variety hearing so far. can hardly wait till next time. thanks again. p.s. nice to see ida out front.

    I’m the ANONYMOUS from B4:

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense. Prince has set up 3rdeyegirl.com more to introduce his all new side project. The all girl group called 3rd Eye Girl with Hannah, Ida and Donna. If so, it’s a brilliant move. Now, he needs to produce a full record and let them fly while he focuses on HIS music with a full band and HIS website 20p1nc3.com

I’m really not feeling Prince having the three ladies back him up on the road. Prince has always had a larger, more multi-ethnic band. Think The Revolution or the various NPG incarnations. To me, Prince with Hannah, Ida and Donna isn’t doing too much for me. Prince went that route back in “The Undertaker” daze, meaning the stripped down band sound with Sonny T on bass and Michael B on drums. Back then, Prince didn’t need to give off any guitar and solo chores to another guitarist as HE was savvy enough to do it all on his own. While I’m not downplaying Donna’s chops on the guitar, I think 3rd Eye Girl are better served in an Andy Allo kinda way meaning a stand alone female driven band. It was cute and clever for Prince to have an all female band backing him for a moment, but in the end, it’s not ENOUGH of a band sound that showcases all levels of the Prince sound, from ballads to funk to rock to pop to groove. For THAT, Prince needs a much larger, more diverse band in instrument, style, gender and race.

It’s not what I was expecting but it’s growing on me. Is this gonna be Prince’s new protege project? So is 3rdeyegirl the name of the 3 piece girl band? I’m looking forward to seeing where this leads……

The song sucks Hannah sorry but stick to drumming and leave the singing to Prince. Prince man what the hell we don’t want a girl group, haven’t you realised by now non of your side projects work as well unless you are the main star.

Thanks 3rdeyegirl for the share, shoutout to Jester too.

Really like the lead vocal, but Prince’s backing vox not so much.

First one I’m passing one, it sounds like a tampon ad – cue splashing about at the beach, horseriding, and playing with puppies at the park.

It’s been a fun couple of months, I’m optimistic for next time.

Also add positive move on 3rdeyegirl.com to include jpeg on the product page for the song , if they can just add the song details like Doc has graciously provided for all the releases….. of course only after Doc has given us the exclusive on the spreecast. 🙂

    This grows and grows…very catchy….

Really has a summer festival vibe about it.

Prince has a hit on his hands….one that can reach the mainstream again too……if he’ll deal with the distribution to the non hardcore….ie promote it and Itunes it.

It’s great to have an uptempo song again, he used to do a lot of those in the 80s….but hasn’t so much of late…it’s great.

Good song. Now, what Prince needs to do, is now that he’s fully introduced the band to the world, he needs to collaborate with them and produce a full album of their music, call the band 3rd Eye Girl, put it out and let them go out into the world and fly like a butterfly WITHOUT HIM, while HE goes out and gets a full band like all the times before, leaving the idea of a trio of women backing him up behind.

So glad Prince finally decided to go with someone else to release this song to the masses that is humble, positive and has a real passion for his music.

“It sure sounds like Prince is backing the girls”…ya think??? Quite obvious it’s him
